ATON Announces Groundbreaking New Series Of Speaker Level Audio Routers

September 11, 2007

ATON, a premier provider of home audio and video signal routing and distribution products for the custom installer market, today announced the availability of its Dynamic Level Adjustment (DLA) series of speaker selectors. Designed for multiroom routing and control of speaker level audio, the DLA series is the world's first to offer both radio frequency (RF) and infrared (IR) control in a speaker selector. Easily connected to home theater and stereo receivers as well as receiver second zone outputs, DLA selectors can route audio to as many as six pairs of wired speakers throughout the home. With ATON's groundbreaking RF and IR control options, installers can provide their customers with a luxury result that they might not have expected in their price range. The two-, four-, and six-room DLA speaker selectors offer multiple-room volume adjustment with the ability to preset a "sound scene" in addition to power source monitoring for maximum power to all speakers. The industry's first RF control option allows for time-saving installations, and ATON's in-room IR receivers or touchpads provide multiple controls for the DLA selectors as well as all other connected audio sources, such as CD players and radio tuners. Unlike typical speaker selectors that use basic impedance correction, the patent-pending DLA technology utilizes a logic circuit that actively monitors how many rooms are on, along with their respective volume levels, and delivers maximum power to each room while at the same time protecting the speakers and amplifier from damage. Each DLA selector features an electronically controlled potentiometer, built with the highest grade materials available to ensure super-flat frequency response and high power (125 W) handling. The optional ATON RF remote, the industry's first RF speaker level controller, provides wireless control of the speaker selectors from anywhere inside or outside the home up to 200 feet away, and enables easier installation. With the RF remote, users can turn on all rooms at their preprogrammed volume levels with the touch of a "scene" button, adjust volume and mute settings in each room, and turn all rooms on or off. The DLA RF remote is ideal for outdoor applications in which wireless control is essential. "The speaker selector concept has been around for decades as a way to connect multiple sets of speakers, but ATON has taken it a quantum leap forward. With our unique RF and IR control options, installers no longer have to walk away from customers whose requests don't match their budgets," said Bob Williams, general manager for ATON. "With the DLA selectors, it's now much easier to enhance the customer's environment with rich audio in multiple locations, and provide control options and results customers thought were out of reach." ATON's DLA speaker selectors are available at a price point comparable to other speaker selectors, but offer more functionality. The DLA six-room selector, for instance, is priced competitively with other leading six-room selectors at $499 MSRP. However, the competitor's product does not offer IR control solutions or the RF option. Pricing for each unit in the DLA series (MSRP) is as follows: DLA Two-room Speaker Selector, $299 DLA Four-room Speaker Selector, $399 DLA Six-room Speaker Selector, $499 Optional RF Remote and Base Station, $99 - $139
