Wayne-Dalton now offers homeowners the latest in whole-house control – the USB Z-Wave™ Interface. This new product, part of Wayne-Dalton's Home Access and Control division, allows homeowners to access, create and control their home network through a PC or the Internet. The USB Z-Wave Interface plugs directly into any USB port and is compatible with computers that run Windows XP or Windows Vista operating systems. The computer immediately recognizes the USB Z-Wave as new hardware. Homeowners can then install the ThinkEssentials® software that comes with the USB Z-Wave Interface. ThinkEssentials allows the user to create a simplified floor plan of their home, applying icons that represent specific home controls to the correct locations. Users can then control light switches, appliances, electronics, the thermostat and other Z-Wave-enabled devices at their computers or through the Internet. The intuitive software also allows the creation of custom-timed events based on day of the week, time, sunrise and sunset. So, setting scenes, such as "turn on security lights at sunset," is a snap. "The innovative USB interface also allows homeowners to monitor their homes from a remote location, adding a layer of safety and security," said Bill Earnest, director of marketing and product management at Wayne-Dalton. "This is the most recent example of how we are committed to our product line to make home entry safe and convenient." Visit http://www.wayne-dalton.com/access for more information.
