On Thanksgiving weekend, HDNet brings home a music spectacular featuring the generous artists of “Farm Aid 2007: A HOMEGROWN Festival.” Recorded live on September 9, 2007 at Randall’s Island in New York City, the concert includes performances by Farm Aid artists Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, and Dave Matthews, who performed with Tim Reynolds, along with The Allman Brothers Band, Counting Crows, Matisyahu, Guster, The Derek Trucks Band, Warren Haynes, Montgomery Gentry, and Danielle Evin. The broadcast will also include “featurettes” highlighting the sights and sounds of Farm Aid’s first HOMEGROWN Festival - the first-ever major music event to feature nearly 100% family farm food and hands on activities about food and farming. Also included are exclusive interviews with family farmers, famed chef Alice Waters, and testimonials from attending artists and New York Governor Elliot Spitzer. Viewers will be urged to visit www.farmaid.org to learn more about food and farms, and the work of Farm Aid. “Thanksgiving is the perfect time to seek out food from family farmers--local, organic, humanely raised--and to share a homegrown meal with our families and friends,” said Carolyn Mugar, director of Farm Aid. “The Farm Aid show on HDNet will give families a Thanksgiving musical highlight, and introduce to viewers the delicious stories of homegrown food from family farms.” “This is a great concert with a great message,” said Mark Cuban, president and co-founder of HDNet. “And, to put legends like Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young and Dave Matthews in the same place - it’s definitely a concert event that you won’t want to miss!” The concert will also be available as part of the HDNet Ultra VOD platform. Viewers should contact their cable or satellite provider for details on how to order the concert. Farm Aid stages an annual concert event to promote food from family farms and to raise funds to keep family farmers on the land. Since 1985, Farm Aid has raised more than $31 million to promote a strong and resilient family farm system of agriculture.
