Genesis Announces Next Generation 2-Series Loudspeaker System

December 18, 2007

Genesis Advanced Technologies, manufacturer of legendary audiophile loudspeaker systems, is proud to announce the latest generation in the evolution of the highly regarded Genesis™ 2-series. The Genesis 2-series loudspeaker (G2) is the penultimate Genesis model. This latest version of the G2 improves on the previous generations, which included the G-II in 1994, the G200 in 1998, and the G201 in 2000. “The most recent version of the G201 was already very good, but we knew that it could be made even better,” said Mr Gary Leonard Koh, President of Genesis. “Over the past 5 years, we continuously incorporated advanced technologies that we developed, including the improved Servo-Bass Cable and 8-inch woofers with higher displacement and lower distortion. We also moved to an acrylic/mdf composite sandwich for improved cabinet resonance control. However, there was only so far that we could take the old model. Further improvement required some major changes, and that resulted in the G2.2.” The Servo-Controlled Bass Amplifier was completely redesigned. Taking advantage of the improved Servo-Bass Cable, the sensitivity and speed of the servo feedback control was increased. New Class D modules with zero propagation delay and higher current capability are used. Subtle changes in bracing reduced modal vibrations and boxy coloration in the woofer tower cabinet to practically zero. This resulted in even faster, more dynamic, and better-defined bass. The midrange/tweeter ‘wings’ are now made of solid cast acrylic up to 1½ inch (40mm) thick to make an even more inert baffle on which to mount the drivers. The geometry of the wings was revised for more controlled dispersion and better integration with the woofer towers. The G2 also features a unique suspension system so that it can be used on the many different types of floors encountered throughout the world – including natural stone tiles, slate, polished granite and marble, deep pile carpet, and suspended hardwood. Designed like the suspension system of a race car, steel spikes and an acrylic frame hold the loudspeaker rigidly and transfer any vibration to earth for best imaging and bass control. Neoprene shock absorbers make sure that vibrations from the floorboards do not get transmitted back up to the speakers. The result is cleaner, tighter bass, a more precise and holographic soundstage, and better imaging. “The sound of the G2.2 is a tremendous improvement over the G201 throughout the entire frequency range, bringing the resulting performance even closer to live for everything from rock to jazz to classical.” said Mr Koh. The Genesis 2 loudspeaker retails for US$63,000 in High Gloss Black. Other colors of acrylic may be possible on special order. They will be available through authorized Genesis dealers and distributors worldwide. Complete specifications for the G2.2 loudspeaker can be found at www.genesisloudspeakers.com.
