LG Electronics Strengthens North America Operations

LG Electronics is strengthening its U.S. management team and realigning its regional operations, further supporting its rapid growth in North America, Michael Ahn, LG Electronics North America President and CEO, announced today. As LG Electronics’ most senior executive in the Western Hemisphere, Ahn continues to provide overall strategic direction for North American subsidiaries, including sales companies in the United States, Canada and Mexico, and key corporate functions such as Corporate Marketing, Public Affairs, Supply Chain Management, Customer Service, Business Management and Human Resources. LG Electronics North America Chief Executive Ahn, who also has served as President of LG Electronics USA, Inc. (LGEUS) since 2004, has tapped a senior executive with significant U.S. experience for that role. Effective Jan. 1, Teddy Hwang returned to the United States as LGEUS President. Reporting to Ahn, Hwang will oversee the divisional operational activities, while Ahn will focus on strategic direction, creating further synergies and enhancing capabilities throughout the region. In his 26-year LG Electronics career, Hwang has held a number of key management positions, including more than a dozen years in the United States. Since 2006, Hwang has been Executive Vice President in charge of global sales for the LG Electronics Digital Appliance (DA) business. Previously, he was President of the DA Brand Division of LGEUS since 2004, and President of the LGEUS DA OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) division from 1999 to 2004. Reporting to Hwang will be the U.S. Consumer Electronics Brand Division President KI Kwon and U.S. Digital Appliance Brand Division President John Herrington, as well as divisional administrative functions, such as sales administration, product marketing and customer support.
