SIM2 Multimedia continues to make progress with Dolby Laboratories, Inc. on the prototype display incorporating Dolby’s high dynamic range (HDR) technologies. SIM2 has been working closely with Dolby to develop a new prototype HDR-enabled liquid crystal display (LCD) flat screen using Dolby’s new light-emitting diodes (LED) local dimming technology. SIM2 and Dolby are on schedule to unveil the prototype display in Q108. The new prototype display will feature Dolby® HDR technologies incorporated into SIM2’s unique industrial concept. Dolby’s HDR technologies leverage LEDs with local dimming to provide dramatically enhanced contrast combined with crisp brightness to deliver picture quality that virtually matches real-world visual perception of depth, detail, and color. Through its work with Dolby, SIM2 continues its long-term focus on delivering new and innovative technology solutions that enhance entertainment by making the experience as close as possible to reality. “Dolby is really happy to be working with SIM2 Multimedia,” said Bharath Rajagopalan, Senior Marketing Manager, HDR, Dolby Laboratories. “We are now one step closer to brightening the future of LCD TV image capabilities with Dolby’s HDR technologies.” “SIM2 is very excited to work with Dolby on this HDR prototype project,” said Domenico Toffoli, Business Unit Director of SIM2. "At SIM2, we leverage our R&D and manufacturing capabilities to deliver high-end display products that are visually stunning. By working with Dolby’s core HDR technologies, we will be able to deliver dazzling visual quality in both form and function.”
