New digital media receiver a virtual gateway to simple and enveloping home entertainment [The following is a release from Jamo]

January 7, 2008

A true convergence product, the new Jamo® DMR 45 digital media receiver easily lets users create enveloping 5.1-channel surround sound performance using only two speakers and a subwoofer. Capable of pulling dynamic music and movie entertainment from a variety of sources, including DVDs, CDs, MP3, WMA/MPEG-4, DivX Ultra and Xvid, this compact 2.1-channel virtual surround receiver delivers 75 watts of power to each speaker and is equipped with an LFE (low frequency effects) output for subwoofer inclusion. And for efficiency's sake, the DMR 45 has a standby power mode consumption of less than a watt when not in use. While Dolby® Virtual Speaker technology allows the DMR 45 to establish a wide two-channel soundstage when playing stereo CDs and MP3s, Dolby® Pro Logic II processing lets it deliver a virtual surround listening experience from any high-quality stereo source. Offering more than just "expanded stereo," Dolby Virtual Speaker technology also incorporates highly advanced algorithms and extensive room-modeling technologies to reproduce the sonic spectrum and dynamics of a properly placed 5.1-speaker system. Users also get the full array of 5.1-channel processing with Dolby® Digital and DTS decoding as well as video upscaling up to 720p/1080i video resolution, enhancing standard DVD-quality on modern flat-screen TVs. An HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) output passes digital signals to a TV or projector (the latest version 1.2a type), while component video and S-video outputs also feed to the TV. Portable audio devices connect via a front-panel USB port. Once plugged into the DMR 45, the music stored on these devices can be heard through the system's speakers for all to enjoy or on a personal level via headphones—the receiver features Dolby Headphone technology for convincing surround effects. Radio listening is achieved through a Radio Tuner with 40 AM/FM presets and Radio Data System (RDS) support. For larger setups, the company recommends pairing the DMR 45 with its A 407 floorstanding speakers and A 400 SUB subwoofer. For those in search of something smaller, the DMR 45 also works great with the company's compact A 102 satellites and SUB 200 powered subwoofer. The DMR 45 is not available for purchase in the United States or Canada. For all other countries, please check with a local distributor on pricing and availability.
