THX Launches Video Calibration Training For Installers And Dealers

THX Ltd. today announced that it is expanding its worldwide training and educational programs to include THX Certified Video System Calibration and Training. Professional dealers and installers who successfully pass the training course will be approved to offer THX Certified Video Calibration services to their customers. Classes will be offered regionally throughout the U.S. several times a year, beginning in January in Southern California. THX Certified Video System Calibration and Training is the most in-depth and comprehensive calibration training available today. The curriculum, which is designed by THX video engineers, includes classroom instruction, two full days of hands-on calibration training and a comprehensive online exam. THX partnered with the instructors of LionAV, who have performed thousands of home theater calibrations, to present the coursework. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of video calibration using a variety of video testing and calibration instruments, as well as knowledge of consumer projector and flat panel display operation, performance, and maintenance. “The THX Certified Video System Calibration coursework is designed to raise the level of education available for professional installers and calibrators, as well as provide them with a valuable asset to generate new business,” said John Dahl, director of education at THX. “THX is using its knowledge of filmmaking and HDTV manufacturing and certification to educate and train installers on how to set up a customer’s display to mirror the studio environment, where film and video games are originally created.” To complete the THX video training, candidates are required to successfully complete a number of calibrations under the supervision of THX course instructors. Once the course is completed and candidates pass the online exam, they will be listed on the THX directory of Certified Video Calibration Technicians and will gain access to a private forum and other THX marketing and online services. In addition, THX will distribute a dated verification of all calibrations to eligible homeowners.
