January 9, 2008

Research and Markets has announced the addition of "DVI and HDMI 2007: Display Port Looms while HDMI Booms in Global Market" to their offering. Digital visual interface (DVI) and sister technology high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) are both successful high-bandwidth digital interface specifications. DVI-enabled shipments will reach 112 million in 2007, but are expected to decline thereafter due to the entry of the DisplayPort standard in the PC segment. HDMI is seeing continued success in 2007, particularly in the CE segment, where it can be found in a vast majority of digital televisions, as well as blue laser DVD players and recorders and HD camcorders. In addition, HDMI is increasing its penetration of standard-definition DVD players and recorders, set top boxes, game consoles, and A/V receivers. Wireless is also entering the HDMI market via a number of companies that have announced the ability to transmit HDMI signals wirelessly via Ultrawideband (UWB) technology. These video over UWB solutions will begin to hit the market in 2008. This report contains analysis and annual worldwide forecasts for the penetration of DVI and HDMI into 19 different applications in PCs, PC peripherals, CE, and communications devices. Five-year average selling price forecasts for discrete DVI and HDMI transmitters and receivers are provided. Past history of penetration forecasts back to 2005 is also included, in addition to brief profiles of major DVI and HDMI transmitter, receiver, and switch suppliers.
