JBL® Cinema Sound CS480 Home Theatre Loudspeaker System Wins Athenaeum Museum Good Design Award

JBL, Inc., today announced that its JBL Cinema Sound CS480 5.1- channel home theater loudspeaker system has won a 2007 GOOD DESIGN award from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design. The JBL CS480 will be featured as part of the Museum's annual GOOD DESIGN exhibition and will enter into the Museum's permanent collection. The GOOD DESIGN program honors the achievements of the best designers and manufacturers from around the world for their pursuit of excellence in form, function and aesthetics, and for advancing new, visionary and innovative product concepts, invention and originality. Paul Bente, president of the Home Products Division of the Harman Consumer Group, noted: "We are honored that the JBL Cinema Sound CS480 has been recognized with a prestigious GOOD DESIGN award. The CS480 was created to integrate beautifully into any home and décor and, equally important, it offers the clear, natural and accurate sound that is the hallmark of every JBL product." The JBL CS480 includes four wall-mountable satellite speakers, a wall-mountable center channel speaker, a powered subwoofer and accessories. The system is designed to integrate beautifully into any home theater system and décor. The satellites and center channel are striking and unique in appearance, with sleek, curved and tapered enclosures finished in high-gloss black, accented by black grilles, and chrome tops and end caps. The subwoofer features a metallic-silver and high-gloss-black finish that perfectly matches the loudspeakers. The slim, attractive styling of the loudspeakers makes them ideal for use in any home entertainment system, especially those based around ultrathin plasma and LCD flat-panel displays. In addition, the CS480 offers a wealth of versatile installation options, including wall mounting. Currently available at a suggested retail price of $799, the CS480 utilizes high-quality drivers and components, including titanium-laminate tweeters that operate in conjunction with a JBL Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS) waveguide, and PolyPlas woofers. The system delivers dynamic, enveloping surround sound with a smooth tonal balance, wide frequency response and exceptional resolution.
