Two names, two promises: Dynaudio Excite. The new Excite loudspeaker models combine high end audio performance and sheer musical fun. Dynaudio set out to design a high end loudspeaker that does not require the highest grade amplifier in order to sound convincing. This is because the Excite models have been specifically designed to make the most of any amplifier’s or receiver’s power, quickly and precisely following the music signal, converting every Watt into nothing but pure music. Dynaudio took advantage of its vast knowledge of loudspeaker technology to develop a unique new model range that could achieve this elevated level of performance. The all-new driver technology incorporated into the Excite models comprises renowned Dynaudio innovations such as: MSP (magnesium silicate polymer) membranes which offer an ideal combination of stiffness, inner damping, and low mass; die-cast aluminum frame baskets to ensure an ultra-rigid, low mass construction that avoids resonance and vibrations; lightweight aluminum voice coils which yield an extremely light moving system and ensure an ideal impulse response and the most precise driver movement; phase aligned first-order crossover networks to provide an ideal transient response; and soft dome tweeters benefiting from a new precision coating process to achieve the most natural high frequency performance. In addition to the characteristic Dynaudio one-piece-moulded cone, a two-piece design can now be employed as well, since new high-precision design and manufacturing techniques diminish the disadvantages of conventional two-piece designs. The new driver designs also offer a longer linear excursion of the voice coil, allowing for higher dynamics especially at high volume. As a result of an optimised manufacturing process and new isolation materials we were able to design smaller voice coils having a higher temperature stability usually reserved for larger diameter designs. The Excite models also feature an impedance correction circuit that makes the impedance completely linear above 100 Hz, without any peaks. This presents a very minor inductive and capacitive load for the amplifier, and thus even amplifiers such as those in audio/video receivers rated for 8 ohm loads can drive the Excite models quite easily. The lower nominal impedance allows a higher maximum dynamic level. Improved magnet structures, enhanced voice coils and additional refinement of all relevant technical parameters further highlight this high-performance loudspeaker series. All Excite models feature an optimised cabinet construction and a rigid 25mm front baffle. This design offers a solid, anti-resonant foundation for mounting the optimised drivers. The cabinet also features traditional Dynaudio qualities: A rigid low-resonance construction, classic and timeless design, and perfectly finished real wood veneers. The new Excite range is the follow-up to the successful Audience series. The Audience was introduced in 1990 and served as the entry-level for Dynaudio sound quality over the course of its three life cycles. With the new driver technology implemented into the Excite models, Dynaudio takes this starting point up to an even higher level of sound quality and performance. Maple real-wood finishes: Excite X36 3-way floor-standing, dual 18 cm woofers, 11 cm midrange $3,600 per pair Excite X32 2-way floor-standing, dual 14.5 cm mid/bass $2,800 per pair Excite X22 Center center speaker with dual 11 cm mid/bass $ 850 each Excite X16 2-way compact speaker, 18 cm mid/bass $1,600 per pair Excite X12 2-way compact speaker, 14.5 cm mid/bass $1,200 per pair The new Dynaudio Excite models will be available beginning June 2008.
