The certificate confirms that the media service provider satisfies all conditions for mass market production of high quality Blu-ray Discs. The Blu-ray Disc was introduced in 2002 by a group of leading companies in the consumer electronics, music, computer and software industries. Blu-ray discs are written and read by a blue laser with a wavelength of 405 nm, shorter than that used with DVDs.
