Yamaha Electronics Corporation, the innovator in home theatre and digital audio and video reproduction, today introduced two new next-generation 7.1 channel AV home theatre receivers, the RX-V3900 (140w x 7; $1,899.95 MSRP), and the RX-V1900 (130w x 7; $1,399.95 MSRP). Offering impressive audio and video performance, unprecedented compatibility with digital music devices and sources, extensive custom installation and convenience features and flexible multi-zone capabilities, both models bring new versatility and excitement to the home entertainment experience. Giving users unsurpassed access to today’s popular digital music sources, the new receivers support HD Radio™ and are XM (with XM HD Surround powered by Neural Surround) and SIRIUS Satellite Radio ready. Additionally, the RX-V3900 supports iTunes tagging, so when listeners hear a great song on HD Radio, they can instantly bookmark it to their iTunes accounts. Each model also offers iPod compatibility via the optional YDS-11 Universal Dock ($99.95 MSRP). An optional Yamaha Bluetooth® Wireless Audio Receiver (YBA-10, $129.95 MSRP) enables users to stream A2DP audio from devices such as mobile phones and computers to both models. The RX-V3900 also provides a well-designed graphical user interface that is optimized for display on HDTV monitors. The RX-V3900 integrates vast network receiver capabilities to work with the most advanced devices on the market. This model can also stream Internet radio (MP3 and WMA) and SIRIUS Internet Radio*, and is compatible with Rhapsody, which gives users unrestricted, on-demand access to the subscription music service’s enormous selection of content spanning virtually every genre, style and taste. Compatible with Windows Vista and DLNA, the unit can play music files (WAV, MP3, WMA, AAC) stored on locally networked PCs. The RX-V3900 can also display album artwork through its GUI to take user engagement to a new level. Yamaha’s proprietary Compressed Music Enhancer technology compensates for the lost detail of audio that is compressed during the “ripping” process, recapturing the essence of the original recording. The RX-V3900 also has a front panel USB port to for quick and easy connections of other portable audio devices. Comprehensive HD Audio and Video Feature Sets Both models offer full support of HD audio format signals including Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio and DTS-HD Master Audio, as well as surround sound processing with the enhanced capability of Yamaha’s exclusive Cinema DSP. Content with 5.1-channel audio is augmented by two front “presence” channels that expand the sound field upward and outward. Both units also feature 3D Cinema DSP which gives the sound field an extra vertical dimension for more realistic sound images via the two front presence speakers. The RX-V3900 and RX-V1900 boast four HDMI inputs to provide pure, unadulterated images and sound from devices such and Blu-ray players, DVRs and DVD players. The RX-V3900 has two HDMI outputs that can be employed simultaneously, while the RX-V1900 has one. Both models upconvert analog video sources, enabling their signals to be routed to a connected HDTV through the HDMI output cable. The RX-V3900 harnesses Anchor Bay Technology’s ABT2010 chip which delivers all of the processing power of their acclaimed Video Reference Series technology to provide video upscaling from 480i or 480p, to resolutions up to 1080p. As a result, users have a true high-definition experience even when viewing sources such as DVDs. A 120Hz refresh rate is supported to accommodate reduced flicker LCD TVs. Moreover, 1080p/24Hz compatibility provides optimal performance with Blu-ray Discs and compliant displays. Auto Lip-Sync Compensation prevents sync issues sometimes associated with transmitting video and audio via HDMI. Refinements exclusive to the RX-V3900 include PReP™ Progressive Reprocessing with 2:2/2:3 pull-down detection and motion adaptive deinterlacing to eliminate artifacts. Additional features for high quality performance include Yamaha’s Digital ToP-ART design which simplifies the signal path and eliminates noise sources to ensure superior audio and video performance. Activating the receivers’ Pure Direct functionality protects the signal additionally by further shortening its path, bypassing all DSP circuitry and cutting power to non-essential functions such as the front-panel display. High Current Amplification allows the amplifiers to drive all types of speakers with pure, robust sound. Also included are discrete low-noise power supplies, Burr-Brown 192kHz/24bit DACs, large arch-shaped heat sinks, low jitter PLL circuitry for SPIDF signals, and ultra-rigid vibration damping chassis design. The Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer (YPAO) simplifies the home theater setup process by automatically analyzing room acoustics and setting parameters for optimum sound quality at the touch of a button. The RX-V3900 can output video, with on-screen display (OSD), to a second zone simultaneously with the main room. Additionally, the RX-V3900 can be controlled from the Web browser of a PC or PDA over a home network. The RX-V3900 and RX-V1900 are well equipped for high-end custom installations with versatile control for up to three zones. Their 7.1 channels can be used to create immersive surround sound environments in a single room, or their seven internal power amplifiers can be allocated to a main room and up to two additional zones. An RS-232C interface and simplified remote unit, which can be used for Main Zone, Zone 2 or Zone 3, enable seamless system operation throughout the home. Both models also offer zone mono, the availability of a receiver manager and programmable dual 12-volt triggers.
