HDMI Extenders From Gefen Allow 1080p Full HD Using Unconventional Cables

At CEDIA, Gefen demonstrates six new extension solutions for HDMI, each offering alternative methods of maintaining high quality signal delivery. The HDMI v1.3 over CAT-5 Extender uses one CAT-5 cable to deliver HDMI at 1080p full HD resolutions up to 50 meters (165-feet) in distance, allowing installers to use common cables while retaining a high quality performance. The HDMI RS-232 Extender delivers HDMI with IR back channel and RS-232 control up to 50 meters (165-feet) using two CAT-5 cables. 1080p full HD is delivered to the extended display while RS-232 enables integration with home automation systems. The HDMI CAT-5 IR Extender transmits IR back channel over the same CAT-5 cables that extend the HDMI display up to 50 meters (165-feet) in distance, controlling out-of-sight sources through the extended HDMI display. The HDMI v1.3 over Fiber Extender is designed to extend a deep color HDMI v1.3 display far away from the source. One fiber optic cable transmits 1080p full HD up to 500 meters (1640-feet) with an impeccable performance. The HDMI v1.3 over RGB Extender uses Gennum's ActiveConnect™ technology to extend an HDMI v1.3 display over existing 5BNC coax cables. Users can upgrade the A/V source and the display, while 1080p full HD resolutions are transmitted up to 100 meters (330-feet) with IR back channel for easy control. The HDMI over Coax Extender uses Pulse-LINK's UWB technology to extend HDMI over an existing coaxial infrastructure. Reliability at distances up to 300 meters (1000-feet) makes it well suited for today's largest homes. HD resolutions up to 1080i are transmitted with multi-channel audio using no new wires for a streamlined delivery.
