Dynaudio IW 17 As Dynaudio’s latest architectural audio loudspeaker products, the IW 17 combines a cost-effective construction with advanced driver technology to establish a benchmark for performance and value in the custom installation loudspeaker market. The IW 17, part of Dynaudio’s IP (Installation Products) Series also comprising the company’s IP 17 and IP 24 in-wall and IC 17 in-ceiling models, features the core technologies Dynaudio has become renowned for: A geometrically optimized Magnesium Silicate Polymer (MSP) cone membrane, a specially coated soft dome tweeter and a high quality crossover crafted of select components. To make the IW 17 both cost effective and easy to install, the frame construction is built of lightweight yet rigid injection-molded plastic. The IW 17 is intended for in-wall installations and can be used for virtually any high quality stereo, multi-room, or multi-channel audio application. Sound may be adjusted in two steps via a toggle switch on the front baffle. The IW 17’s 6.5” (17 cm) mid/bass driver’s cone benefits from the proprietary Dynaudio MSP cone material, which combines low inner resonance, low mass, and high stiffness to deliver a linear and neutral response. The optimized cone geometry yields a precise midrange with extended bass response with ideal dispersion, while the 7.5” (21 mm) soft dome tweeter undergoes a labor intensive, time-consuming manufacturing process where the fine textile diaphragm is shaped into a dome and then precisely treated with a specially formulated coating, to ensure the balanced and natural frequency response Dynaudio tweeters have become renowned for. The IW 17 will begin shipping in October 2008 and will be priced at $375.00 each. Dynaudio DM 2/7 The DM 2/7 is the latest addition to Dynaudio’s entry-level DM series, which also includes the company’s DM 2/8 and DM 2/10 models, and as the most compact design in the DM range, it is ideally suited to medium sized rooms or any application where space is limited. The DM models were conceived as simple, cost effective solutions incorporating Dynaudio’s core driver technologies, and as such are appropriate for a wide range of multi-channel or home theater loudspeaker systems, custom installation applications (into cabinets, wall cavities, or behind projection screens), or traditional stereo bookshelf systems. The DM series features authentic Dynaudio driver technology: extremely light aluminium wire voice coils, powerful centered magnet systems, lightweight but rigid Magnesium Silicate Polymer (MSP) geometrically optimized cone diaphragms, and the renowned specially coated soft dome tweeter. The two way DM 2/7 model utilizes a 28 mm (1.1 Inch) soft dome tweeter mated to a 17 cm (6.5 inch) proprietary MSP mid/bass driver, integrated into a solid 25 mm front baffle. The rigid and additionally braced cabinet reduces unwanted resonance, even at higher volumes. With a high sensitivity, impedance correction, excellent long term power handling and high quality cross-over components, virtually any amplifier will be compatible and allow the DM loudspeakers to deliver authentic music and sound reproduction. The DM 2/7 features a rear-ported bass reflex design allowing easy placement in various loudspeaker setups. All three DM models are available in a high quality furniture-grade rosewood or black ash laminate finish. While the quality of the laminate provides an elegant wood-like finish, it is also very robust and durable to make integration especially easy for custom installations into cabinets or audio video furniture, in-wall cavities and enclosures, as well as for multi-room systems or even commercial installations. The DM 2/7 will begin shipping in October 2008 and is priced at $875.00 per pair.
