Stealth Acoustics Improves Model FX6 Invisible Speaker With Injection Molding Technology

[The following is a release from Stealth Acoustics]

November 14, 2008

Stealth Acoustics’ newly redesigned FX6 speaker (designated by a .2 nomenclature on the product carton) is now constructed of molded “air‐injected” polycarbonate black plastic. Our previous FX6 speaker frame construction utilized painted MDF wood, and Stealth’s new injection molded production process now eliminates all of the wood materials from our FX6 model. The result is a professional looking product that offers better temperature, impact and moisture resistance than its predecessor; especially valuable qualities when the FX6 is installed on the jobsite in the earlier stages of construction. The FX6’s renowned speaker performance, with high frequency extension to 20 kHz and smooth response is unaffected by the new production processes. And, even though the new polycarbonate frame construct is more expensive than our previous materials, labor offsets allow us to keep the price of the FX6 unchanged at $660 a pair MAP (dealer pricing also remains the same). The new FX6 versions are shipping now, and over time, Stealth plans to transition the entire speaker line to the new production process. If you are using the FX6 in commercial applications such as MDU’s, there may be the need to employ a back box to satisfy code requirements. The Stealth accessory MBX‐22 UL listed metal back box is the proper compliment to the FX6 when a back box is desired. The MBX‐22 box also offers an appropriate “volume” of air behind the speaker panel providing consistent low‐frequency performance in installations.
