Tiny Mirage® MX Home Theater System Scores Big Attention

As part of the International CES Innovations 2009 Design and Engineering Awards program, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® and Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) recently recognized the Mirage® MX home theater system as being among the best designed and engineered products for 2009. As a 2009 Innovations honoree in the home theater speakers category, the MX was selected for this prestigious accolade by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and trade journalists. Evaluating products in 34 consumer electronics categories, the judges based their decisions on the following criteria: engineering qualities, aesthetic and design qualities, user value and novel features. Featuring five palm-sized, Omnipolar® speakers and the brand’s smallest-ever powered subwoofer, the MX home theater system is engineered to deliver serious sound without drowning out a room’s décor. Mirage’s Omnipolar sound philosophy works with a room, rather than against it, creating the proper proportion of direct and reflected sound. As a result, audiences get completely immersive experiences that permeate evenly throughout the entire listening environment. “The MX is all about minimizing your speakers, not your sound,” said Martin Tustin-Fuchs, Mirage product line manager. “It’s truly a milestone product for Mirage—and now, as a CES Innovations honoree, the entire consumer electronics industry.” Slated to launch this month to specialty retail outlets, the Mirage MX home theater system will carry a U.S. MSRP of $1,200. Mirage will also sell individual MX stereo speakers for $150, so consumers can add channels to their 5.1 MX package, if desired. The Mirage MX home theater system will be on display at the 2009 International CES, which runs January 8 through the 11, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase will feature honorees, by product category, at the Sands Expo and Convention Center/The Venetian, booth #72062.
