Wiring up a surround-sound system is no Saturday in the park; it’s more like a Saturday in the attic. Just ask the millions of consumers who bought surround-sound systems in 2007, and still haven’t hooked up the rear speakers. Radiient Technologies aims to cut the cord and free those speakers from the closet with Roomcaster® -- a revolutionary new ultra-wideband (UWB) technology that enables the delivery of reliable, high-quality wireless surround sound. “The goal is to make things simpler so that everyone can enjoy quality audio,” says Jano Banks, founder and CEO of Radiient. “Roomcaster offers the convenience of wireless with no compromises. Speakers and audio components can be moved anywhere in the room, unhindered by speaker wires, while continuously delivering flawless fidelity.” At CES 2009, Radiient will introduce its new Roomcaster Early Adapter Kit. Consisting of one transmitter and six speaker adapters, the Early Adapter Kit ($1,999) enables consumers to transform any brand of audio components into a wireless 5.1 surround-sound system. Developed to please the fussiest of audiophiles, Roomcaster delivers uncompressed, 24-bit, up-to-eight-channel digital audio at an up-to-96 kHz sampling rate, and employs a mesh network to ensure dropout-free performance. Radiient’s booth demonstration will be a Roomcaster wireless 7.1 surround-sound system. “The Early Adapter Kit is ideal for the ‘techno-curious’ audiophile who is eager to try something superior to speaker wires,” Banks says. “The ultimate goal is for Roomcaster to be embedded into all sorts of electronic devices, such as iPod docks, Blu-ray/DVD players, game consoles, and AV receivers. “To that end, we will have some exciting partnership announcements at CES.”
