Koetsu USA, the U.S. distribution arm of the world-renowned Japanese cartridge manufacturer, introduces into the U.S. market the Chario Premium Tower 1000T, a three-way, bass-reflex speaker combining a modest size with a big sound, at the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show. The Premium Tower 1000 Speaker by Chario Loudspeakers, Italy’s largest manufacturer of high-performance speakers, uses a floorstanding design that extends the cabinet height of Chario’s two-way Premium 1000 bookshelf speaker. Falling about midway in Chario’s broad line of speakers, the 1000T’s slim profile makes it ideal for smaller rooms. Its smooth midrange and deep bass deliver a lush, dynamic sound able to transport listeners into a rich, three-dimensional soundstage familiar to concert-goers. The lengthened cabinet houses a downward-firing woofer and port at the enclosure’s base, just above the plinth. The top of the cabinet houses a pair of 5-inch Chario-designed and manufactured woofers that use a cellulose-fiber diaphragm, and are complemented by a 1-inch soft-dome tweeter. The Tower 1000T is rated for 130 Watts into 4 Ohms, and housed in a handsome cabinet of high-density fiberboard (HDF) veneered in natural wood. All the interior walls are fully laminated to minimize pressure loss and further stiffen the enclosure. The speaker measures 33.9 inches high by 6.7 inches wide by 11.4 inches deep, and weighs 35.3 pounds. The Chario Premium Tower 1000T is available now at a suggested price of $2,100/pair. It can be seen with other outstanding Chario and Koetsu USA products at Suite 29-235 at the Venetian Hotel, during CES.
