DVIGear Introduces HDMI Long Reach Coaxial Extender Based On Gennum’s ActiveConnectTM Technology

DVIGear, a leading manufacturer of digital connectivity products, and Gennum Corporation (TSX:GND), a leading supplier of mixed-signal and analog signal integrity solutions, today announced that DVIGear has deployed a new high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) coaxial extender based on Gennum’s ActiveConnect™ technology. Fully compatible with the latest HDMI v1.3 standard, DVIGear’s new DVI-7510a Coax Extender supports HDMI v1.3 data rates of up to 10.2 Gbps at distances up to 100 meters (330 feet) with no loss of audio or video quality. DVIGear introduced this groundbreaking new product at the recent Integrated Systems Europe show at the RAI Convention Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Bringing unparalleled video quality over distances never before possible, this new product is the ideal solution for all residential, commercial and industrial applications that require long distance routing of digital HDMI (and DVI) signals. Using auto-adaptive technology that automatically adjusts for varying cable lengths, this extender enables easy plug-and-play installation into any environment and provides instant support for today’s high-definition 1080p displays. In addition, with the performance headroom, installers can ‘future-proof’ their environments and ensure that installations are ready for next-generation features and hardware.” About the DVIGear DVI-7510a Coax Extender DVIGear’s DVI-7510a HDMI Active ConnectTM Coax Extender is a set of two products: DVI-7511a is an HDMI Active ConnectTM Coax Transmitter that accepts an HDMI v1.3 input signal and converts it to four (4) coaxial signals for transmission over cable runs up to 100 meters (330 feet). DVI-7512a is an HDMI Active ConnectTM Coax Receiver that accepts these four (4) coaxial signals and converts them back to an HDMI v1.3 compliant output signal without any of the conversion artifacts often found in low-cost CAT-X extenders. Both units may be powered independently using two (2) external 12VDC power supplies included with the product. For retrofit applications, a fifth coaxial connection is supplied on both units; this extra connection allows power to be applied only on the transmitter side. Also shown at the Integrated Systems Europe show: HDMI Matrix Switchers DVIGear exhibited its expanded range of multi-format HDMI and DVI Matrix Switchers. Based on an innovative modular architecture that allows seamless integration of multiple digital signal platforms, these units offer unsurpassed signal fidelity and system control capabilities. Full support for HDCP repeater protocol, as well as Advanced EDID management and versatile RS232 / LAN control make these units the ultimate signal routing engines for commercial, residential and command & control display systems. DVIGear’s HDMI and DVI Matrix Switchers are available in a wide range of configurations from 4x4 to 32x32 arrays. These units support all HDTV resolutions up to 1080p, as well as single-link DVI resolutions up to 2048x1200 pixels and dual-link DVI up to 4096x2400 pixels. HDMI Distribution Products DVIGear exhibited its full range of high performance HDMI v1.3 compliant distribution products including a comprehensive range of splitters, switchers, extenders, scalers and format converters. These products offer full support for HDCP encrypted signals, as well as support for all HDTV resolutions up to 1080p and PC resolutions up to 1920x1200 /60 Hz. Furthermore, DVIGear’s new line of HDMI v1.3 products offers full support for 1080p/12-bit “deep color” operation. HDMI Long Range Cables DVIGear also displayed two (2) new HDMI v1.3 Long Range Extenders at the show. A new all-digital HDMI CAT-X Extender can transmit 1080p (8-bit color) signals up to 90 meters (300 feet) using two CAT5e or CAT6 cables, and transmit 1080p (12-bit color) up to 30 meters (100 feet). Super High ResolutionTM HDMI Cables A cornerstone of its range of high performance products, DVIGear’s Super High ResolutionTM (SHRTM) HDMI and DVI cables are engineered for fully transparent operation with single-link bit rates up to 2.25 Gbit/sec..
