D-BOX Technologies Moves Over 50,000 Moviegoers––Motion Seats A Success In ’09

Nine Months, Nine Motion Pictures and 13 Theatres––Momentum Expected to Increase in 2010

January 13, 2010

D-BOX Technologies Inc. (DBO.A on the TSX Venture Exchange), a leader in innovative motion technology for the entertainment industry, announced today that the company has reached a major milestone since unveiling its breakthrough motion-enhanced seating to the public in April 2009. To date, over 50,000 moviegoers throughout North America have “lived the action” and experienced D-BOX motion-enhanced seats during one of nine major motion pictures released in 2009 which delivered over $800,000 at the box office during the same period. Pioneering the next dimension in movie viewing, in just nine months D-BOX Technologies has progressed gradually: with the installation in 2 theatres and 37 D-BOX MFX seats in April 09 it finished the year with 318 of its ground-breaking motion-enhanced seats in 13 movie theatres throughout the U.S. and Canada. “What an amazing year this has been for D-BOX,” said Claude Mc Master, President and Chief Executive Officer of D-BOX Technologies. “We are extremely proud of how well received our technology has been throughout North America. From moviegoers who return for each new movie released with D-BOX, to movie theatres and top Hollywood movie studios, we are thrilled to finally be able to share D-BOX’s experience with the world. The future of D-BOX is bright and we can only look forward to another successful year in 2010 with additional locations and more movies.” By working with most of the biggest Hollywood movie studios, D-BOX has become widely popular among audiences and industry leaders alike. Not since the creation of surround sound and 3-D has there been a new technology that truly enhances the way moviegoers experience the movies, until now. Fully-equipped with individual intensity adjustment settings, D-BOX MFX seats allow movie viewers the opportunity to further personalize the experience by adding as much or as little motion as desired. While motion sensations occur during action sequences, seats remain still during the quieter, more dialogue-driven scenes. Additionally, for those looking to skip the long theatre lines, most theatres equipped with D-BOX motion systems offer online ticket purchasing as well, so seats for the D-BOX experience can be reserved in advance, guaranteeing a great seat. Thirteen movie theatres in the U.S. and Canada feature D-BOX MFX seating including UltraStar Cinemas Mission Valley in San Diego, California; Santikos Theatres Silverado 19 in Tomball, Texas; Wehrenberg Theatres Ronnies 20 Cine in St. Louis, Missouri; Emagine Entertainment Canton Theatre in Canton, Michigan; Emagine Entertainment Cinema Hollywood in Birch Run, Michigan; Cinéma Beloeil, in Beloeil Quebec; Cineplex Odeon Queensway Theatre in Etobicoke, Ontario; Mann Chinese 6 Theatre in Los Angeles, California; Theatres at Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota; Galaxy at the Cannery in Las Vegas, Nevada; Galaxy Highland Theatre in Austin, Texas; UltraStar Cinemas in Surprise, Arizona; and UltraStar Apple Valley in San Bernardino, California.
