Blu-ray 3D Ramp-Up: Technicolor Producing 15 Titles (BusinessWire)

Technicolor said yesterday that its authoring and compression unit is set to deliver more than 15 Blu-ray 3D titles, in a marketplace of approximately 30 Blu-ray 3D projects). Technicolor produced the market’s first Blu-ray 3D disc, DreamWorks Animation’s “Monsters vs. Aliens,” which comes bundled with 3D “starter kits” from Samsung Electronics. With more projects in the pipeline, the facility is quickly optimizing its Blu-ray 3D workflow. Chuck Parker, President of Technicolor’s Digital Content Delivery division, notes that the company has “already reduced our production times for Blu-ray 3D by 50 percent, and we are on track to match the production times of a typical 2D Blu-ray Disc.”
