EASTONE Introduces New THX-Certified Acoustic Transparent Projection Screen

August 5, 2011

EASTONE's new screen material has been evaluated and certified by THX. EASTONE’s special advantages are claimed as follows: A) Compared with conventional screens for video image quality, EASTONE has made the special efforts to pursue both the video image and acoustic transparency. Thanks to the superior acoustic transparency, the screen can be expanded to the maximum width of the room, with the loudspeakers placed at the backside, making it possible to enjoy the large display with good quality video image and sound. B) With the conventional acoustically transparent screen, the sound goes through the screen from the sound source, making the sound to plane-waves with poor sound location and directions. With EASTONE screen, the sound goes through the screen in spherical waves, offering better sound location and directions directly from the sound source. C) EASTONE’s screen offers smooth video images, compared with the perforated screen with the pin holes. D) The colors are effectively reproduced, and with no hot spot, the balanced brightness is maintained throughout the screen. The long use will not cause eye-fatigue. E) Utilizing the diffused reflection on the surface material, EASTONE’s screen offers ± 85 degree viewing angles, which make it possible for many people enjoy watching from the sides. F) Thanks to the highest acoustic transparency, all the sound sources (loudspeakers) can be placed behind the screen. This will make it possible to place the widest display in the limited place, and sound space in accordance with the screen size is offered. G) The screen lets pass the sound and infrared signals. The AV equipments can be placed behind the screen, and operated by the remote controllers. H) The screen weight is 1/3 of the conventional type. Because of light and compact structure, price can be moderate, and installation is also simple and easy. I) For your information, other screens are made with vinyl chloride material for the surface and numerous holes are punched from which the sound is transmitted. As a result, the aperture ratio is about 10 percent. As a matter of fact, the acoustic level and quality are poor. That is the reason why the high, medium and low frequency sounds must be electrically adjusted by using equalizer. J) EASTONE has invented the original structure under its own patent right. In order not to degrade the acoustic transparency, but also to provide light reflex, EASTONE has employed woven fabric as the main material of screen, and pasted reasonable thickness non-woven fabric on the backside with the special binding agent, so as to offer the better acoustic transparency and light reflection. To maintain the light reflection and acoustic transparency, EASTONE has employed the original pasting system, namely the binding agent adhere to the fabric part only in the bonding layer between the main material and non-woven fabric, so as to keep the aeration property between the material and non-woven fabric which contribute less degradation of acoustic transparency. EASTONE realized the acoustic transparency of 90 percent with this system: Sound pressure level (dB) = 20 log10 x 90/100 = -2 (dB) The sound pressure degradation is maintained by minus 2 (dB). The light reflection ratio (gain) is 0.8. So, the infrared remote controller can be used without any trouble. EASTONE can proudly emphasize that : All the employed material has the higher acoustic transparency, instead of simply punching holes on the screen to let the sound go through. The main material (woven fabric) has min. 95 percent acoustic transparency. The bonding layer has been effectively managed to provide necessary and sufficient characteristics as the projection screen. For more information visit www.eastone.gr.jp
