THX To Provide Hands-on, Certified Professional Calibration And Home Theater Trainings At CEDIA 2011

THX Ltd. will be offering its educational workshops and training programs geared towards CEDIA installers, video calibrators and retailers directly following CEDIA 2011 , September 11-13. WHAT: THX Director of Education and Senior Fellow John Dahl will be joined by THX Video Calibration Instructors Gregg Loewen and Michael Chen to host Levels 1 and 2 of THX’s Certified Professional Video Calibration and Home Theater trainings. These programs will introduce and provide in-depth instructions to individuals on consumer electronics optimization techniques. Candidates who successfully complete each program will earn the title of THX Certified Professional. Brief descriptions of all trainings are provided below: · THX Certified Professional Video Calibration Level 1 : This introductory course is designed for individuals looking to understand the history of TV technology, why individuals should calibrate devices, the calibration process and other introductory topics. · THX Certified Professional Video Calibration Level 2 : With two full days of hands-on laboratory instruction, individuals will gain in-depth understanding of video calibration techniques using a variety of video testing and calibration instruments. · THX Home Theater Level 1 : This introductory course provides consumer electronics professionals with the knowledge and training to assist end users with the selection of home theater equipment, basic system set-up and calibration. · THX Home Theater Level 2 : With two full days of in-depth training, individuals will understand how room acoustics and design, wall treatments and isolation, and AV hardware selection and placement affect the performance of home theaters. WHY: Consumers are routinely frustrated with home theater devices due to the lack of perceived performance because of a home’s unique environment such as lighting, furniture placement, room size and shape among other variables. The THX Certified Video Calibration and Home Theater hands-on trainings educate installers, video calibrators and retailers on how to resolve this performance “gap” to achieve the highest quality for each unique space. WHO: John Dahl, director of education and senior fellow, will teach both Home Theater Levels 1 and 2 courses, and Gregg Loewen and Michael Chen, THX certified video instructors, will host and train individuals in both Video Calibration Levels 1 and 2.
