Toshiba Announces 55-inch Glasses-Free 4K 3D HDTV

Toshiba has launched the first 55-inch 4K 3D autostereoscopic HDTV in Japan. The 3D HDTV includes face-tracking technology to allow the viewer seating flexibility (multiple seating locations) to experience the 3D effect. The HDTV uses LED backlighting and a 240 Hz refresh rate. Video processing for Quad Full HD is handled by Toshiba’s Cevo Duo processor, which is based on the Cell processor. The HDTV is priced at 900,000 Yen (approximately $11,000). There was no announcement of availability for the U.S.
