Swizz Beatz Acquires Ownership Interest In Privately Held Monster, Inc.

February 7, 2013

Monster founder and the Head Monster Noel Lee, has recruited Swizz Beatz to serve on Monster's executie board after Beatz reportedly purchased an undisclosed co-ownership equity stake in the privately-held company. This follows the relatively recent contractural end of Monster's and Dr. Dre's Electronics/Interscope's business venture, which produced the Beats by Dr. Dre headphone line. Monster believes that Swizz Beatz's will be another success story for the company in the design, production, and marketing of personal electronics with a distinctive sound created by Monster. Monster said that the venture will go deeper than your average celebrity endorsement. “The products that we have planned are revolutionary in technology, sound, and style,” Lee said. “We need the talents and reach of Swizz to help bring these products to life in the eyes of the consumer.” "Swizz will advise us on our creative direction, product design and our marketing," said Lee. "We'll be looking to him to tell us what's next. He's the real deal. He doesn't get involved in something unless he believes in it." Monster stated that Swizz Beatz, a rapper recording artist, record producer, DJ, fashion designer, artist, and husband of singer/keyboardist Alicia Keys, will help Monster in the development and marketing of entertainment products that fit today’s music and entertainment culture. He will play an integral role in designing the company’s strategy and planning, expanding the Monster brand with partnerships around the world, much like he’s recently done with the Reebok brand as Vice President of Sports Style Marketing and Design. “Monster has always been a go-to name for music electronics as well as a big part of music culture,” Swizz Beatz said. “Under the leadership of Noel Lee, who is a true genius, the company has literally been changing the way people listen to music for over 30 years. They built an empire, and my job will be to push the envelope—turn the lights of the castle up really bright and help Monster take its next big step forward. There will be some very exciting things happening in the year ahead, so stay tuned!” "I analyzed and studied the company for a couple of years," said Swizz. "It felt like this is the right time to be in business together. I have a seat on the board. I am a co-owner. This is a graduation for Monster, and it's a graduation for me. For Monster, it shows they are investing in the culture. They are not doing things just to get by. In the next few months, the world will see who the monsters are in this world."
