RealD Named 3D Technology Provider For The 17th Shanghai International Film Festival

Company Will Provide 3D Projection and Movie-themed 3D Glasses for Closing Film “Transformers: Age of Extinction”

Global 3D and visual technology company RealD Inc. (NYSE: RLD) announced today it has been selected as the 3D technology provider for the closing film of the 17th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) on June 22, Michael Bay’s “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” from Paramount Pictures. For the second year in a row, RealD has been selected to provide its technology to support the gala screening of SIFF, one of the most important film events in Asia. The world’s brightest and most widely used 3D cinema technology, RealD’s 3D Cinema System has been installed in the festival’s main venue, the Shanghai Grand Theater, which promises an immersive 3D entertainment experience for attendees at the closing ceremony. “Transformers: Age of Extinction” will open on June 27 around the world. The screening of “Transformers: Age of Extinction” on June 22 at the opening ceremony of the Shanghai International Film Festival is a special advance screening ahead of its global release. In order to ensure the quality of presentation, Chan added that the closing ceremony screening will be presented in 6FL, a higher 3D brightness level which helps bring in premium image quality and depth. RealD also announced it will provide 1,800 pairs of limited edition “Transformers: Age of Extinction” themed collectible RealD 3D glasses for the guests at the opening ceremony. The movie themed eyewear featuring the main characters, Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, will be showcased for the first time during the advance screening in Shanghai. “China’s box office continues to grow at a rapid rate, and the Chinese market’s appetite for 3D films stands among the highest in the world.
