Dolby Vision

September 4, 2015

Dolby announced today collaborations with leading System-on-Chips (SoCs) providers Realtek, HiSilicon and MediaTek to support Dolby Vision. This news comes on the heels Sigma Designs’ announcement of its support to enable Dolby Vision on Smart TVs.  These commitments mean that Dolby Vision can now be enabled on multiple playback devices including, Ultra HD set-top-boxes, Smart TVs, Over-the-Top (OTT) online streaming, Ultra HD Blu-ray players and Digital Media Adapters (DMAs).

Dolby Vision is a groundbreaking technology which allows Dolby Vision enabled TVs to take full advantage of a combination of peak brightness, local contrast, and wider color gamut; the end result is a dramatically enhanced viewing experience in your living room.  VIZIO previously announced their collaboration with Dolby to deliver the first Dolby Vision enabled display to customers.  In addition, China's leading color TV manufacturer, Skyworth, recently announced a series of Dolby Vision-enabled products. This was followed by TCL’s announcement to integrate Dolby Vision into the TLC QLED 2.0 television becoming the first TV manufacturer in China to introduce Dolby Vision into quantum a dot TV.

Warner Brothers, Netflix and VUDU have all announced that they will create and deliver Dolby Vision graded content to consumers. As 4K and HDR become the norm for next-gen experiences in the living room, Dolby is working with all points in the ecosystem to deliver Dolby Vision content to the customer.
