DTS CEO Sees Growth In Audio For Connected Devices

Kirchner said he expects the retail introduction of 4K Ultra High-Def Blu-ray to slow the rate of decline in that segment, but it’s obvious the company’s best financial bets are coming elsewhere. Headphone:X, the company’s premium headphone audio solution, has been deployed in a small number of phones, gaming accessories and TVs, with bigger consumer electronics adoption expected in the second half of 2016. And Play-Fi — DTS’ home wireless audio solution — will be available in five times as many consumer electronics products this holiday season compared to 2014.

DTS:X — the company’s object-based surround sound solution for cinema and the home theater — has seen films using the format released in both China and the U.S., with Carmike Cinemas, Regal Cinema and Epic all announcing support in a number of new theaters.
