certified ambient light rejecting (ALR) projection material.

 The DarkStar® eFinity Series is the new flagship line of EPV’s ambient light rejecting (ALR)

“retro-reflective” home theater screens. The DarkStar® eFinity is the new flagship product of

EPV Screens. It represents the absolute pinnacle of ambient light rejecting screen technology. 

The DS9 material achieves this using an advanced retro-reflective, micro-structured optical filter

that is capable of a 95% rejection rate of in-room ambient light. The result is a stunning, ISF-

Certified color balance, the deepest possible black levels, an astonishing degree of detail and

clarity in a full 180 degree viewing angle.  Its near unity .9 gain characteristic means it can be

used with a wide light-output array of home theater projectors. Aesthetically it includes a sleek,

9mm, edge free frame that will blend seamlessly in any home décor. Each screen also includes a

The DarkStar® eFinity Series features an internal-framework with the wraparound material

that is better known as an EDGE FREE® design. Its name comes from the absence of an

external framework or “edge” as seen in traditional designs. It is a more aesthetically pleasing

format for the purpose of custom home design. In addition to its design qualities, the eFinity’s

EDGE FREE® configuration maximizes the viewing area in a smaller space footprint without

compromising the screen’s structural integrity. The aluminum framework’s thickness measures

9mm making the thinnest in the industry. It also incorporates a compact split frame design that

drastically reduces package size for lower shipping costs and the ability to navigate tight spaces

to reach the installation site. Its innovative spring-hook frame mounting enables the installer to

connect the fabric easily with perfect tension uniformity. Included is a 9 mm black bezel for

when the viewer may prefer to have a subtle edge and an LED backlighting kit with variable

The Material

EPV's DarkStar® eFinity is professionally engineered to incorporate optical micro-filters that

actively reflect a projected image while preventing indirect or ambient light from “washing out”

the picture. With the sublime balance of gain, contrast and viewing angle, the DarkStar®

brings a hard-hitting performance to either a dark or well lit projection room. From a

microscopic perspective, the DarkStar® utilizes a complex design that enhances brightness,

filters ambient light and even provides an exceptional 6:1 contrast Ratio. Direct light is reflected

back toward its source while ambient light is absorbed. This combination of retro-reflective

filters and neutral black contrast layers create an image where “black-level” details are easily

seen without compromising the color balance. In addition to this, a durable surface coating

diffuses the light to eliminate hot-spotting, glare or other visual artifacts commonly encountered

with higher-gain screens.
