ONKYO INTRODUCES THE TX-SR373 NEW ENTRY-LEVEL 5.2 CHANNEL A/V RECEIVER

March 27, 2017

Smart enhancements make Onkyo’s 2017 TX-SR373 5.2-Channel A/V Receiver the perfect entry-level A/V receiver for creating a theater-like surround-sound experience that’s easy to use and easy to connect.

Available for an MSRP of $349 (USD) and $479 (CAD), the TX-SR373 is a future-ready A/V hub that delivers powerful reproduction of popular multichannel soundtracks, including DTS-HD Master Audio™ and Dolby® TrueHD.  Discrete analog amplification produces 155 W/ch into 6 Ohms (1 kHz, 10% THD, 1-channel driven) or 80 W/Ch into 8 Ohms (20 Hz–20 kHz, 0.08% THD, 2-channels driven, FTC) for thrilling dynamics and ample speaker-driving muscle.  Two pre-outs are available for sub-woofer connections to maximize bass output found in games, movies and music.

The receiver also features low-latency Qualcomm® aptX™ audio for CD-quality streaming from supported smartphones, digital audio players and laptops via Bluetoothwireless technology.  Almost any app-based audio playing on these devices can be enjoyed on the home theater in moments.

Also included is an Advanced Music Optimizer, an original DSP listening program that enriches compressed audio such as MP3/AAC/WMA formats stored on USB memory devices or streaming Bluetooth audio for clear and detailed stereo playback.  A selection of listening modes are included to enhance different types of content, including Direct Mode for high-quality sources such as SACD over HDMI® or CD via pairs of digital or analog audio inputs.

For the first time at this price point, Onkyo is including AccuEQ Room Calibration technology, which sets speaker distances according to the listening position; adjusts output; selects crossover for the subwoofer, and performs audio equalization.  The result is balanced and accurate sound in any space.

Neatly integrating peripherals such as game consoles, media players, and Blu-ray Disc™ players is a snap via HDMI inputs supporting HDR10, HDCP 2.2 and 4K/60p video pass-through, and the receiver links to TVs via one HDMI cable.

Other features include two composite video inputs for legacy consoles or VCRs; AM/FM radio tuner with 30 memory presets, and a full-sized remote control to complement physical buttons on the front panel.

The well-organized rear panel, meanwhile, has printed illustrations to simplify initial connection.  From there, users can relax and enjoy as typically weak TV and mobile phone sound is transformed into a room-filling sonic experience.

The TX-SR373 is now shipping and carries an MSRP of $349 (USD) and $479 (CAD). For more information, please visit www.onkyousa.com.
