CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--C by GE and Google are bringing a whole new level of simplicity to smart lighting control. Without the need for an extra hub, you can soon use either the Google Home, Google Mini, Google Max or the new display product, Google Home Hub, to control your C by GE bulbs. Simply screw in a C by GE bulb and make sure one of these Google Home products is on, and the Google Assistant will automatically detect the bulb in the Google Home app. Then just say “Hey Google…” to turn the bulb on and off, dim it or control it otherwise with your voice.

Setting up routines and schedules, as well as controlling lighting away from home, can be done directly in the Google Home app, eliminating the need to toggle between two apps to make updates. While great for new users, this seamless compatibility, made possible through a Bluetooth connection between the products, will also be available to existing Google Assistant and/or C by GE users without the need to purchase any additional hardware.

“In today’s growing smart home space, easy, seamless connections are more important than ever,” says Jeff Patton, GM Connected Home Product Management, GE Lighting. “This exclusive lighting collaboration with Google means controlling your lighting with your voice is as simple as screwing in a light bulb, and you also can drive robust outcomes based on your unique routines with custom-set schedules.”

A Smart Light Starter Kit with a Google Mini and C-Life bulb, pre-paired for even faster installation, will be available starting October 22 at the Google Store, Best Buy, Lowe’s and Target, as well as a variety of online outlets and regional chains. The starter kit has an MSRP of $55, less than buying these products on their own, and significantly less than systems that require an external hub.

Stand-alone C by GE bulbs, all of which will carry this seamless Google Assistant compatibility as of October 22, are available at a variety of national retailers with an MSRP of $24.99 (two-pack C-Life) - $34.99 (two-pack C-Sleep) to extend the experience throughout the home.
