EPV Screens Introduces New Electric Free-Standing Projection Screen That Rejects Ceiling And Ambient Light For UST Projectors

New material is classified as ALR/CLR® for its ability to negate overhead light as well as other forms of off-axis lighting. It’s also tough enough to roll up and comes in a free-standing motorized format.

EPV Screens, the provider of finely made home theatre projection screens for dedicated custom installers, today announced the release of its Dark Star® Max UST-FR Series of motorized floor-rising projection screen with ceiling & ambient light-rejecting material for UST Projectors. “Projection screens that shine bright in brightly lit rooms are very popular right now and many people are seeking not just a dark room video display but something that can replace the household TV-set and that means high performance with the lights on.” Said Dave Rodgers, Marketing Manager of EPV Screens. “What distinguishes this product is that the material is specially formatted for use with ultra-short throw projectors, and it’s durable enough to exist as a motorized free-standing screen.”

The Dark Star® Max UST-FR Series is a non-invasive motorized free-standing electric projection screen that features a Ceiling/Ambient Light Rejecting (CLR®/ALR) Ultra-short throw Projection material. The
design features motorized “scissor-backed” cross risers that raise and lower the material. Matte white screen materials don’t work well with the lights on and that limits them to dark room presentations. The DarkStar® UST material mitigates the washout effects of ambient light while boosting color saturation, contrast and black/white dynamic range. To minimize the projection footprint, the material is specially formatted tab-tension reinforced to work specifically with UST (ultra-short throw) projectors. Most notably, this product eliminates the problem of foot traffic passing between the projector and screen. The product gives the appearance of a fully integrated big-screen display that requires no tools or structural modifications to make it happen. Free-standing (aka. Floor-rising) electric screens are the perfect solution for applications where ceiling or wall-mounted installations are impractical. The Dark Star® Max UST-FR features a tubular motor that allows swift operation with a superior weight tolerance and operational lifespan. The housing is of
durable aluminum construction with a moisture resistant black enamel finish. In addition to a full IR/RF control package, an infrared safety feature automatically stops the screen from lowering if foreign objects
such as fingers are detected during operation.
