TruAudio Presents New Tool-less Design With TruGrip™, Powered Ring

September 12, 2019

TruAudio, a global leader of premium architectural, outdoor and commercial speakers, in partnership with Swarm, announced today they are launching a new tool-less solution into its Ghost™ Series architectural product line-up. Concurrent to the launch, a powered rough-in ring with Quick Connect™ technology, potentially an industry first, will be introduced as a complementary product that is sure to streamline trim outs.

TruGrip™ is a tool-less solution that allows integrators the peace of mind that when they work with TruAudio’s Ghost™ series, they are utilizing product that sounds amazing and installs and uninstalls extremely quickly. When first unboxed, the speakers will house four levers that are in an open/armed position. Once inserted into the cutout, with or without the rough-in ring, the integrator can simply begin to close the levers, activating the TruGrip™ tool-less mechanism. As the levers are rotated, the dog-ears automatically swing out and clamp down on the material in which the speaker is being installed. Once the levers rotate into the completely closed position, pressure is removed from the springs holding the dog-ears in place by a proprietary and patent-pending mechanical closure that applies adequate pressure to keep the speaker in place for the lifetime of the product. Should the integrator need to return and service the project, the speakers can be uninstalled in less than thirty seconds. Simply rotate the levers back into the open position and use the reset holes to rearm the TruGrip™ system.

"We see tool-less speakers as the way of the future,” says Kary Wawrzyniak, EVP of Operations at Truaudio. “As we introduced this into our architectural line-up, we wanted to produce something that was not only extremely reliable but that was both easy to install and uninstall. In partnering with Swarm we were able to leverage their solution and combine it with our TruGrip technology to bring to market the strongest possible design."

Within the Ghost™ line, TruAudio will also be upgrading and streamlining the footprint of its architectural in-ceiling speakers. Woofer sizes will increase from 6.5” to 7” and from 8” to 9”.  In doing so, both the 7” and 9” models will fit elegantly into TruAudio’s existing 8” pre-construction bracket (RC-8), allowing integrators to standardize rough-ins.

If integrators choose, they can use TruAudio’s new powered pre-construction bracket with Quick Connect™ technology during project rough-in. The ring features compression terminals and a zip-tie loop that allows for speaker wire to be securely terminated during the rough-in phase of a project rather than during the trim-out phase. Then, when the time comes to trim out a project, the integrator simply grabs the Quick Connect™ end out of the protective housing and quickly snaps it on to the back of the speaker before it’s inserted into the cutout. The alternative has been balancing a speaker on a ladder while also trying to strip back wires and terminate them into speakers.

“I think integrators will love how rapidly they can now install architectural speakers as they take advantage of both our TruGrip™ and Quick Connect™ technologies,” says Bryan Garner, President of TruAudio. “We have spent countless hours designing solutions to help our customers save valuable time and avoid potential headaches.”

TruAudio will be showcasing these products on September 12-14, 2019 at CEDIA (booth #1938). Both products will begin to ship in Q1 2019.
