McIntosh Releases MQ112 with EQ

October 11, 2023

Press Release

The newly announced MQ112 stereo eight-band equalizer features McIntosh's classic industrial design and a host of integrator-friendly features to help dealers customize the performance of their audio installations.

The new McIntosh MQ112 eight-band equalizer will be available in October 2023 for a retail price of $3,000.

McIntosh has announced a new solution to help integrators better tailor the sound of their system installations into their clients’ home spaces through the introduction of its MQ112 Environmental Equalizer.

According to the N.Y.-based company, its latest product is a sophisticated 8-band stereo equalizer that can transform any home audio space into the ultimate listening experience.

“The new MQ112 puts McIntosh’s powerful EQ capabilities in a standalone unit, giving listeners more options to customize and fine-tune their system’s equalization than ever before,” states Charlie Randall, president of McIntosh.

“We are excited by the possibilities that the MQ112 offers audio enthusiasts to take control of their sound.”

MQ112 Equalizer Provides Integrators with More Sound Sculpting Capabilities

McIntosh explains the MQ112’s power lies in its analog equalization features, which enables professional integrators to adjust audio signal levels by as much as ±12dB range at eight key bands between 25Hz and 10kHz.

McIntosh boasts that rather than tinkering with room treatments, speaker placement, or even reorganizing the entire room to optimize the acoustics of their sound system, integrators can use the MQ112 to fine-tune the mix and balance of frequencies to craft a sonic profile for any listening space or compensate for the imperfections in room acoustics for improved audio reproduction.

The popular home audio company points out the inclusion of both balanced and unbalanced inputs and outputs ensure that the MQ112 can be used by dealers to support a range of sound system installation, and it can be connected between the preamplifier and power amplifier (balanced or unbalanced) of any audio configuration.

The new equalizer also includes a secondary pair of outputs that allows for connection to two separate stereo systems, as well as bi-amped system configurations between a single pair of speakers, or it can be connected to as many as two subwoofers. In more intricate stereo systems, the MQ112 can be connected through processor loops or tape monitor record/play connections on many preamplifiers and integrated amplifiers.

McIntosh adds the design of the MQ112 features all the hallmarks of its classic industrial designs, including the illuminated logo, black glass front faceplate, rotary control knobs, and custom machined aluminum end caps.
