The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on compatibility issues between cable systems and digital television sets in an effort to speed the US transition to digital and make new DTV sets ""cable ready."" The commission is asking for comments on how digital sets that do not have an IEEE1394, or FireWire connection should be labeled and the licensing terms for copyright protection. The FCC said it might suspend the rule-making procedures if the cable and consumer electronics industries can reach a private agreement on the two issues. Source: CreativePlanet.com
