DolbyÆ Wins Big At NAB 2000

DolbyÆ Laboratories, the world leader in audio technology, reported that two of its professional audio products were recognized with awards from industry publications at this yearís National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show in Las Vegas. Dolbyís new hand-held DM100 Portable Audio Monitor was awarded Television Broadcastís ""Pick of Show,"" while the companyís DP563 Surround Encoder was named an NAB ""Pick Hit"" by Broadcast Engineering. In addition, Wohler Technologies also won both ""Pick of Show"" and ""Pick Hit"" awards for their EMON-1 Dolby E and Dolby Digital monitor unit, which uses a Dolby Cat. No. 558 Dolby E/Dolby Digital decoder card. ""Weíre honored to be recognized once again for our contributions to the field of digital television broadcasting,"" said Tom Daily, Marketing Manager, Broadcast Products. ""These awards represent Dolbyís commitment to providing the broadcasting community with the tools necessary to keep them at the forefront of audio technology."" At this yearís NAB show, Dolby Laboratories introduced its DP570 Mulitchannel Audio Tool and DM100 Portable Audio Monitor, as well as its Dolby E Partner Program. The DP570 enables producers and DTV broadcasters to enhance and monitor the presentation quality of their multichannel audio mix. The DM100 allows audio system integrators and service engineers to quickly test the integrity and composition of multiple audio signals in a production facility, broadcast facility, or home theatre. In support of Dolby E integration, Dolby has created the Dolby E Partner Program. The program allows third-party manufacturers of broadcast equipment compatible with Dolby E to promote their productsí capabilities to the growing number of broadcasters and production houses that require an integrated solution for 5.1 surround sound audio. These new products and programs illustrate Dolbyís commitment to helping broadcasters and producers meet consumer demand for 5.1 surround sound audio programming. Last year, Dolby introduced the first phase in this effort, Dolby E professional audio coding. Dolby E allows broadcasters and producers to easily move up to eight channels of audio through existing digital audio infrastructures prior to encoding into Dolby Digital for delivery to consumers. In 1999, Dolby E was named a ""Pick of Show"" by Television Broadcast editors, an NAB ""Pick Hit"" by Broadcast Engineering, and a Mario Award winner by TV Technology.
