Martinsound is announcing the installation of a fourth RecordistMAX recordist monitor system at Four Media Corporation (4MC) in Burbank, California. Designed as an off-the-shelf solution for machine room monitoring at post production facilities, RecordistMAX is a modular rack-mounting, multi-input monitor and switching matrix that provides machine room technicians with programmable alignment, monitoring, metering and track-combining facilities. The new system at 4MC has been installed on Stage One in the Sound Services department, in the machine room for Studios C and E, to facilitate transfer operations. Commenting on the decision to purchase another RecordistMAX system, Engineer Jeff Malham says, ""The wide variety of playback sources at 4MC necessitated a cost-effective transfer management solution. The Martinsound RecordistMAX system, with its flexibility, provides the necessary tool.""The RecordistMAX base unit accommodates four 8-track recorders and provides monitor selection of recorder inputs, sync outputs and repro outputs, which can be assigned to left and/or right of headphones or stereo loudspeakers, with level, mute and dim controls, and a multi-mode solo system. The system streamlines the alignment process with a built-in programmable digital sine wave and pink noise test generator with single-button tone injection assignment to each 8-track machine's recorder inputs. The front panel display shows the current frequency or level, or monitor level, depending on the selected mode. Setup frequencies and levels may be memorized, and up to 32 snapshots can be created of the input source selection, and loudspeaker and meter assignments.Expander units may be added to handle up to a total of 16 machines, or 128 tracks, with serial communication between all units allowing distributed placement and roving remote control panels.Options include VuMAX, a set of eight VU meters that may be fed by RecordistMAX's meter buses. The meter buses may alternatively be used to drive optional auxiliary balanced line outputs, allowing track combining for copies and transfers, eight monitor channels for projector changeover switching, or additional external meters. An oscillator buffer option provides a balanced oscillator output even when tones are not being fed to the recorders.Martinsound, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of specialized audio products for experts in the fields of recording, post production, mastering and broadcast.
