Fujitsu General announced that its Plasmavision SlimScreen plasma display monitors have been incorporated by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum as part of an exhibition for a proposed new Guggenheim Museum in lower Manhattan. Plans for the new museum were formally announced at a reception and dinner in honor of architect Frank Gehry, which took place April 18 at the Guggenheim Museum at Fifth Avenue in New York, New York. The reception and following exhibition showcase Gehry's designs for a new Guggenheim Museum to be constructed near the tip of lower Manhattan. The exhibition features models, plans, and building program documentation. Images from Frank Gehry's world-renowned Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, are shown on Fujitsu's Plasmavision display monitor, which delivers exceptionally realistic image quality from a 42-inch widescreen display less then 3 1/2 inches deep. Fujitsu's Tedd Rozylowicz, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing noted, ""We are extremely pleased to have been chosen by the Guggenheim to be a part of this history making event. To show Frank Gehry's striking, boldly conceived architecture, the Guggenheim required a visually appealing medium capable of presenting Gehry's design in exacting detail. Fujitsu's Plasmavision display will be an integral component of the exhibit because of its superb high-resolution picture quality, elegant wall-mountable design and ability to display a continuous selection of images."" Plasmavision SlimScreen - The ""Virtual Picture Frame"" Fujitsu's Plasma TV monitors are the ultimate display devices for presentations, commercial applications and home theater enthusiasts in the digital era. Fujitsu's 42-inch Plasmavision SlimScreen PDS-4222, for example, delivers a powerful visual experience only a big screen set can provide, and its widescreen aspect ratio (16:9) lets viewers enjoy movies the way they were originally shown in theatres. In addition to their unique home theatre benefits, Fujitsu plasma monitors can accept the video output from computers, making them ideal multimedia display devices. The PDS-4222 even looks great when not in use, thanks to its slim profile and handsome metallic silver ""picture frame"" chassis that's not much wider than the screen itself. Measuring less than 3 1/2 inches deep, the PDS-4222's flat-panel plasma technology produces images in a manner entirely different from conventional CRT-based TVs, for remarkably realistic picture quality with extraordinary clarity, sharpness and color accuracy. The PDS-4222 can display images with true HDTV resolution in all HD formats, as well as DTV and computer images, with no down-conversion or compromise in digital image quality. The Fujitsu Plasmavision SlimScreen PDS-4222 is currently available at a suggested retail price of $15,999.
