HaflerÆ, the leader in speakers and amplifiers for the audiophile, studio, post production and broadcast markets, launches its new high performance satellite speaker system, the VRM series. These two-way, passive speakers, scheduled to ship this summer, are designed primarily for front stereo, center channel and rear surround channel applications, creating a home theatre environment second-to-none. The new VRM series will be available through select e-tailers and the www.hafler.com Web site.""Although the VRM satellites are passive models, they have technical circuitry and features that ensure excellent sound quality in every application,"" explains Jerry Cave, Hafler Managing Director. ""Combine the Ebony Ash Vinyl finish with the technical features and you'll see that the Hafler VRM series provides the home theatre enthusiast with loud levels, excellent sonic quality and a wide dynamic rangeÖ with excellent power and a stylish look.""The VRM5 and VRM6 are optimized for front stereo and rear surround applications. The VRM5 uses a one-inch silk dome tweeter and a 5.25-inch driver and the VRM6 uses a one-inch silk dome tweeter and a 6.5-inch driver. The VRM25 and VRM26 are optimized for front stereo and center channel applications. The VRM25 uses a single one-inch tweeter with dual five-inch drivers and the VRM26 uses a single one-inch with dual six-inch drivers.Crossover design is a 24dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley that filters high frequencies to the tweeter and low frequencies to the woofer. The crossover utilizes a Zobel network to maintain flat response in the high frequency range and a parallel conjugate network to maintain Minimal Impedance Deviation (MID). The tweeter circuit also incorporates optical protection for ""overload"" protection and a 0dB/-3dB tweeter pad to match the tweeter level to the environment for the best balance in sound. The VRM series has a power rating of 200W peak with total harmonic distortion at <3 percent, 70Hz-150Hz <1 percent, >150Hz at 90dB @ 1m on axis. The VRM5 weighs 10lbs with dimensions of 6 (W) x 12 3/16 (H) x 7 (D) inches. The VRM6 weighs 15lbs with dimensions of 7 (W) x 13 3/8 (H) x 9 (D) inches. The VRM25 weighs 21lbs with dimensions of 22 (W) x 6 (H) x 7 (D) inches. The VRM26 weighs 27lbs with dimensions of 24 (W) x 7 (H) x 9 (D) inches. ""Any new Hafler system in development has to survive the rigorous referencing against current, well-established Hafler products,"" explains Cave. ""Our home theatre products are designed by the same engineers who have produced our award winning professional series of speakers, including the renowned TRM8 active monitor and new M5 passive monitor, and amplifiers. The VRM series certainly reflects a great success for Hafler in achieving a reliable, high performance satellite speaker system that will transform any home theatre application into a tremendous audio experience.""For further information on the new Hafler VRM series of high-performance satellite speaker systems, please visit www.hafler.com.
