Proton Premieres New AA-2480 4-ChannelPower Amplifier

Proton Corporation, a leader in home audio/video innovations, has introduced the AA-2480 4-channel power amplifier, designed to bring professional-quality sound reproduction to home and theatre applications. The AA-2480, compatible with a wide range of the most popular surround receivers and processors, delivers, according to the company, breathtaking bass and clean, clear highs, and the full dynamic range of todayís digitally recorded soundtracks and recordings.The AA-2480 allows the user to easily upgrade an existing two-channel stereo system to six-channel home theatre surround applications. The AA-2480 is also ideal for use in multi-room sound applications.The Proton AA-2480 is rated to deliver 80 watts of power to each of its four channels into eight ohms. In the two-channel bridged mode, it offers 240 watts per channel into eight ohms. In the three-channel mode, delivers 80 watts of power to two-channels and 120 watts to one channel into eight ohms.The AA-2480 features a unique thermal auto-sensing design that automatically employs an ultra-quiet, multi-speed fan to cool the heat sync. A built-in protection circuit reduces or shuts down output if danger of overheating arises.Total harmonic distortion (THD) for the AA-2480 at rated power is 0.05 percent. Frequency response measures 20Hz to 20kHz (+/- 0.5 dB). Intermodulation distortion, at rated power, is 0.02 percent and the slew rate is 50 Vrms. The Proton AA-2480 maintains a high damping factor of 100dB. Power bandwidth, 0.1 percent THD, is 10 Hz to 50 kHz. Input sensitivity is 1 Vrms. Channel separation is 60 dB at 1 kHz. Signal-to-noise (A-weighted) is 113 dB.The clean-lined, all black Proton AA-2480 4-Channel Power Amplifier features a five-volt mini-plug for remote-on. Heavy-duty gold-plated speaker terminals and RCA inputs, located on the unitís rear pane, insure the highest quality speaker and component connections.The AA-2480 weighs 25 1/2 pounds and measures 16 1/2 inches wide, and 3 inches high and 14 inches deep.
