Cambridge SoundWorks, the country's largest factory-direct stereo and home theatre manufacturer, unveiled its new series of loudspeakers, as well as a trio of affordable, easy-to-use sound systems designed to bring high quality audio to mass market audiences. Cambridge SoundWorks is a wholly owned subsidiary of Creative Technology Ltd. (NASDAQ: CREAF), and sister company to Hifi.com, a multi-channel provider of consumer electronics and home entertainment products. The Newton Seriesô consists of 12 new speakers that maintain the Cambridge SoundWorks tradition of high value while introducing a new level of style, performance and refinement. Designed to compete with exotic models selling for hundreds (if not thousands) more, the Newton Series includes speakers ranging from bookshelf speakers priced at under $199 a pair to tower speakers at $2,199 a pair to complete surround sound speaker systems at $3,999. In an attempt to attract mass-market customers away from traditional manufacturers of shelf systems, table radios and TV speakers, Cambridge SoundWorks also introduced three new ""complete solution"" audio systems. These include the Model 88CD by Henry Klossô, a new version of the highly-acclaimed Model 88 table radio, MusicWorksô 200, another alternative to shelf systems, and TVWorksô 250, a one-box stereo sound systems with virtual surround sound that is ideal for use with TVs in smaller rooms. ""Cambridge SoundWorks has always enjoyed a strong reputation for products that offer high value and high performance,"" said, Michael Sullivan, President of Cambridge SoundWorks. ""Our ability to sell factory-direct combined with our 12 years of design and manufacturing experience has resulted in our Newton Series, a premium speaker line competitive with any speakers made, regardless of price. And while the Newton Series will expand our appeal with high-end audio customers, our new all-in-one sound systems - MusicWorks, TVWorks and Model 88CD - expand our market to include people who typically buy shelf systems."" Cambridge SoundWorks Newton Series With the Newton Series speaker line, Cambridge SoundWorks has introduced distinctively styled, higher-end speakers that offer high performance at a value price. Special attention has been paid to assuring that all of the Newton Series products are built with high standards of fit and finish comparable to that of fine furniture. Smaller models are available in light or dark cabinets, with large floorstanding or bookshelf speakers available in Maple and Mahogany veneers or dark gray lacquer finish. The various Newton Series models are built with a common voice, so that models within the line may be mixed to build a variety of system combinations to suit the individual user's requirements. Cambridge SoundWorks Compact Audio Systems With a built-in CD player and digital clock, Model 88CD by Henry Kloss offers a simple, elegant alternative to ""shelf"" or ""micro"" stereo systems. Price at $349. MusicWorks 200 system consists of a stylish center section containing an AM/FM tuner and CD player, combined with the SoundWorksÆ Digital amplified speaker system with powered subwoofer. Priced at $249.99 The MusicWorks center section is available separately for $149. The final complete audio system introduced by Cambridge SoundWorks is TVWorks 250, which provides a very simple (only one connecting wire!) method for adding good sound to TVs in rooms where complete surround sound systems just don't make sense. Priced at $149. In addition to the Newton Series, and their ""all-in-one"" sound solutions, Cambridge SoundWorks also introduced three new in-wall speakers, and two in- ceiling speakers with its AmbianceÆ line. Cambridge SoundWorks Ambiance speaker line offers consumers affordable, high quality sound that acoustically enhances any home without disrupting the decor. Prices range from $149 to $249 per pair.
