IwerksÆ Entertainment Inc., (NASDAQ: IWRK) a leading provider of special venue theatres, announced the opening of the sixth IwerksÆ Extreme Screenô large format theatre, as the centerpiece of the first-phase rollout of the new North American Museum of Ancient Life (NAMAL) in Lehi, Utah. The 325-seat, 2D theatre features a mammoth motion picture screen six stories high and the patented, Academy AwardÆ-winning 8/70 Linear LoopÆ projection system. Iwerks is the number one provider of 8/70 (70mm, eight-perforation) 2D and 3D large format theatre systems in the world, with more than 80 large format theatres currently installed or in development on four continents. The company received an immediate and positive response to the introduction of the Iwerks Extreme Screen Theater brand in May 1999, inking contracts for twelve Iwerks Extreme Screen Theaters around the world in high-profile commercial and institutional venues. ""Today's museum directors recognize the value of incorporating state-of-the-art media to capture and hold the interest of their guests. And they also have to get the best value they can out of their budgets,"" says Don Iwerks, co-founder, Chairman and acting CEO of Iwerks Entertainment. ""NAMAL has made a reliable investment in Iwerks technology and service. It will quickly be recognized as a first-class museum and an exceptional venue for family activities and education."" ""The Iwerks Extreme Screen gives a special appeal to our first-phase opening and to the museum as a whole. It enables us to attract a broader demographic, and its changing program gives people an extra incentive to come back,"" says Adam Robertson, NAMAL Theater Administrator. The new theatre will open with the Academy-nominated large format film ""Alaska: Spirit Of The Wild,"" and two weeks later will add the box office hit ""Thrill Ride: The Science Of Fun"" to the program. In addition to supplying and installing the theatre equipment, Iwerks' services to NAMAL include access to a sizeable library of large format films. Iwerks also offers its clients ongoing marketing assistance, technical support and operations support. Museum officials say that when it is complete, NAMAL will be the largest dinosaur museum in the world. Phase One of the $20 million, 122,000-square-foot, six-story complex includes the Iwerks Extreme Screen Theater, the ""Raising Giants"" paleontology exhibit, the Expedition CafÈ and the Findings gift shop. The main dinosaur and fossil displays open next year in Phase Two. NAMAL is part of the new, 500-acre Thanksgiving Point leisure destination development. Visit www.dinosaurpoint.com.
