KS Waves, Ltd. announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd. for Wavesí MaxxBassô audio signal processing technology. Under the terms of the agreement, Sanyoís TV & Visual Display Products Division will integrate Wavesí MaxxBass technology into selected models of its next generation television sets, which is said to enable superior sound quality, unmatched by any television system currently available. The MaxxBass technology utilizes Wavesí proprietary audio technology intellectual property (IP) to overcome the limited ability of speakers to accurately reproduce the lowest bass frequencies. MaxxBass extends low frequency performance and thus claims to enable exceptional bass sound, even from the limited speaker environments possible in televisions today. ""Consumers are becoming increasingly sophisticated in their demand for top-quality audio from all of their entertainment and infotainment appliances,"" said Mr. K. Takahashi, Senior Manager of Overseas TV Product Planning at Sanyo. ""We are committed to utilizing the most advanced technologies, such as MaxxBass, to provide our customers the best experience. Following the initial step of integrating MaxxBass into selected TVs, we hope to utilize this cutting edge technology to enhance the sound quality of other small audio-enabled devices."" Sanyo is the first television manufacturer in the world to adopt Wavesí MaxxBass technology. Gilad Keren, CEO of Waves, noted, ""Sanyo will raise the bar for TV audio quality. We expect the entrance of MaxxBass-enabled televisions to the market will be a major step in establishing MaxxBass technology as the de facto standard for TV bass frequency response enhancement."" Sanyo will initially integrate MaxxBass technology into several television models that will be released in the U.K. later this year. About MaxxBass Wavesí patented MaxxBass technology extends the low-frequency performance of any speaker system, providing significantly improved bass response and hence higher quality audio playback. Many speakers, particularly those used in consumer electronics appliances, cannot cost effectively convey low-frequency sounds. MaxxBass technology overcomes this limitation by generating a sensation of low frequencies. It achieves this by replacing the original low-frequency signal with a series of harmonics in a range the speaker can play, but which ""sound"" to the human ear like the original bass signal. MaxxBass technology is based on Wavesí advanced psychoacoustic Audio Technology Intellectual Property (IP) that enables audio device manufacturers to enhance the performance of their audio products beyond the limits imposed by engineering and cost constraints. About Waves Waves, Ltd. is the leading provider of Audio Technology Intellectual Property (IP). The companyís Maxx technology is setting a new standard in audio signal processing, providing psychoacoustic audio IP that radically enhances audio performance. Wavesí IP has been licensed to several leading companies, including Motorola and Microsoft. The Waves mission is to continue developing and providing IP that enables unparalleled sonic quality for all audio applications. Waves started operation in 1993 and is headquartered in Israel. Waves, Ltd. also maintains a wholly owned subsidiary in the United States. For more information, visit the Web site at www.waves.com.
