Microdisplay Experts From Around The Globe Gather In Boulder, Colorado To Discuss The Future Of Display Technology

Who: Displaytech, the only company in the world making ferroelectric liquid crystal microdisplays (FLCD)s, co-hosting with the United Engineering Foundation (UEF) and the Southwest chapter of the Society for Information Display (SID). What: The first annual Microdisplay 2000 conference. Everyone who is anyone in the microdisplay industry will be at this annual event to discuss the latest industry advancements and address the challenges that lie ahead. Microdisplay designers, manufacturers and integrators will share ideas and vision with leading companies including 3M Corporation, Sony Corporation, Agilent Technologies, Texas Instruments, Sharp Laboratories of America and others. Where: The Regal Harvest House, Boulder, Colorado. When: August 7-9, 2000. Why: As the technological world moves steadily toward a mobile paradigm, new applications for mobile computing devices arise daily. An increasing abundance of visually complex contents calls for lighter, richer displays capable of attaining true, high-definition images. Microdisplays are affordable, fingernail-sized displays that offer full color, full motion images, and will allow people to view full Web content on their cell phones. Other applications for microdisplays include wearable computers, HDTVs and ""Dick Tracy"" watches. During the conference, Displaytech will open the doors of its Longmont, Colorado manufacturing facility for executive one-on-one tours with select members of the media.
