Toshiba introduced its new lineup of analog SuperTUBEô direct-view and rear-screen projection TVs. Complementing its new HDTV-compatible sets, Toshiba's broad new TV line offers screen sizes ranging from 27-61 inches, including a newly introduced selection of the company's new FSTÆ Pureô Purely Flat models. All Toshiba sets include advanced picture-enhancing technologies and performance features, including ColorStreamÆ component video inputs and 3-line digital comb filters with Vertical Contour Correction on virtually all 27-inch and larger models. ""Toshiba's goal is to provide consumers with TV sets that offer the best possible picture quality at every price point, all the way from our entry-level models to our top-of-the-line models,"" noted Scott Ramirez, Toshiba Assistant Vice President of Marketing. ""To this end, we've now made advanced technologies standard throughout virtually our entire lineup, including advanced digital comb filters, vertical contour correction and of course, component video. These enhancements mean that all purchasers of Toshiba TV sets will be able to enjoy superior resolution from today's advanced digital sources, including DVD players and digital set-top boxes."" FST Pure SuperTUBE Technology Toshiba rounds out its lineup of advanced analog SuperTUBE sets with a wide selection of FST Pure purely flat direct-view sets, including 32- and 36-inch models in both the standard line and the company's exclusively Cinema Series line. (Toshiba is also introducing new 36-inch HDTV-compatible FST Pure sets in both the standard and Cinema Series lines). The FST Pure SuperTUBE is said to offer unprecedented detail and color purity, with significantly less glare than conventional screens, as well as virtually perfect corner-to-corner focus. ColorStream Component Video Virtually all Toshiba SuperTUBE direct-view and TheaterView projection sets feature ColorStream component video inputs. SuperTUBE Toshiba's entire SuperTUBE line benefits from the companyís advanced image-enhancing technologies, including Toshiba's 3-line digital comb filter and Vertical Contour Correction circuitry, which works with the comb filter to reportedly improve the horizontal edges for complete image enhancement. Toshiba 36-inch models feature Invar Shadow Mask technology. Invar is a special nickel-iron alloy that resists thermal expansion, allowing the set to operate at the higher voltages necessary for a brighter, sharper picture. TheaterViewÆ Projection Toshiba's line of analog TheaterView projection TVs includes 61-, 55- and 50-inch 4:3 models. All Toshiba projection TVs feature the company's PowerFocusô optic system, designed to optimize both sharpness and brightness. It operates in conjunction with Toshiba's high-performance PowerFocus cathode ray tubes (CRTs). PowerFocus CRTs are said to feature a unique fine phosphor for purer color reproduction compared to conventional CRTs. In addition, the TVs feature Toshiba's Dynamic Quadruple Focus system, as well as the Multi-Linear Digital Focusô convergence system. TheaterBright Screen Technology Toshiba's projection TVs feature TheaterBrightô projection screens, which offer a 0.7mm screen pitch and a Surface Level Diffuser that supposedly enhances brightness and contrast, while providing viewers with a 160-degree viewing angle. These sets also have a Corner Diffuser Enhancer, claimed to increase corner brightness and improve brightness uniformity, as well as increase screen gain. Toshiba projection TVs feature a new color icon-based trilingual on-screen menu system, StableSoundÆ, video labeling, video lock, direct video input selection and individual audio/video settings for input type.
