Dynaudio, a speaker manufacturer long associated with the highest level of speaker-building, introduces the Contour Theater Series Subwoofer CEDIA EXPO 2000.The Contour Subwoofer is the perfect complement to any two-channel or multichannel surround sound system anchored by Dynaudio Contour Series loudspeakers. Offering the same fine esthetic appeal as the rest of the Contour Theater Series, the new subwoofer assures breathtaking performance and unsurpassed value. Dynaudioís Contour Theater Series represents the culmination of its pursuit of the highest quality and value in audio performance and elegant design. The new Subwoofer, similar to the other Contour speakers, was engineered to provide affordable yet uncompromised high-fidelity performance. Dynaudioís use of the finest grade materials and highest quality components, coupled with complete vertical integration in the handcrafted production of the loudspeakers, only emphasizes the strength of its commitment. The 210-watt actively powered Contour Subwoofer employs a proprietary 12-inch woofer and offers extremely deep bass response with a high level of speed, accuracy and precision. Movies on DVD offer extreme low frequency information that can only be reproduced through a dedicated subwoofer, intensifying the home theatre experience. The Contour Sub has a wide range of control functions to help adapt the subwoofer to all Contour models. Level, phase and a switchable crossover frequency (80Hz, 95Hz and bypass) control can be adjusted on the subwooferís back panel. Both balanced and single-ended inputs are supplied for direct connection from an A/V digital preamplifier with a dedicated subwoofer output. To allow maximum useable output, the Contour Sub utilizes an infrasonic high-pass filter set at 15Hz, 12dB per octave. The unit's low-pass crossover slope is 24dB per octave, and the subwooferís frequency response (anechoic measurement) is rated at 18Hz-120Hz (+/-5dB) with an impressive maximum SPL of 110dB at 1m, while the average in-room maximum SPL is 119dB. The cabinet, employing a 31mm baffle in a front-ported bass reflex enclosure, is extremely rigid and optimized for the 12-inch woofer, which is built and finished to the same high level of precision and detail as the rest of the prestigious Contour series. Dynaudio has developed a special laser-optimized tuning process for the bass driver and cabinet that enables deeper bass extension and greater output level.Dimensions for the 101.2lb. Contour Subwoofer are 13.1 x 28.9 x 21.9 inches (WHD). It is available in fully wrapped natural veneers (rosewood, cherry, beech, and black ash standard), matching all other Contour models. As in the rest of the Contour range, additional premium finishes (such as bird's eye maple, walnut, and black and white lacquers) are also available, but may require longer delivery times. No endangered or rain forest woods are used in the construction of Dynaudio products. Other Contour Theater Series speakers include the floorstanding Contour T2.5, designed for both front and rear channel applications in home theatres, and the compact Contour T2.1 LCR monitor, designed for horizontal center channel and/or vertical left/right main and surround channel applications. Although specially designed for home theatre systems, true to their Dynaudio heritage and precise tonal balance, both models perform equally well in two-channel stereo applications. Dynaudioís Contour Subwoofer is now shipping, and priced at $2,999.For more information about Dynaudio, visit www.DynaudioUSA.com.
