Genelec, Inc., U.S. distributor of Genelec Active Home Theater Systems, has expanded their line of home theatre products with the addition of four new active speakers - the AIW26 In-wall speaker, the HTS3 & HTS4 active subwoofers and the HT210 two-way bi-amplified active loudspeaker. The announcement was made by Hank Finke, National Sales Manager for Genelec Active Home Theater Systems and further underscores Genelecís commitment to the high-end home theatre and consumer audio markets. These new products join Genelecís current product mix, which includes the HT205, HT206, HT208 two-way bi-amplified active loudspeakers and HTS2 active subwoofer. Genelec began developing active monitors over 20 years ago for the professional audio and broadcast industries and is considered today the premier manufacturer of active recording studio monitors. As the high-end consumer audio market evolved, Genelec Active Studio Monitors found their way into home theatre and surround sound installations. Genelec was then asked by consumers and custom installers to develop specific products for the home theatre market. This research and development effort resulted in the HT (Home Theatre) products - an active home theatre line with the ability to handle extremely high SPLs with wide dynamic range necessary to meet the needs of todayís home theatre audiophile. The new AIW26 is a self-contained, bi-amplified active in-wall speaker that features a 6 1/2-inch low distortion bass driver in a reflex cabinet with a 3/4-inch metal dome tweeter loaded with Genelecís proprietary Directivity Control Waveguide Technology (DCWô) and a matched remote amplifier module, the RAM1. The DCWô provides an extremely stable and precise soundstage throughout the listening area. This improved directivity control results in more direct (and less reflected) sound reaching the listener, which produces a more realistic and stable image. In addition, the supplied RAM1 amplifier (80 watts for bass and 50 watts for treble) is designed to be a perfect match with the AIW26 speaker. As with all Genelec products, the RAM1 includes a series of Room Response Controls to fine tune the speakerís performance to any given environment. The Genelec AIW26 active in-wall speaker system also includes an integrated electronic crossover, RCA and XLR line level input connectors, and adjustable input sensitivity for interface to all types of decoders. Easy to mount in walls or ceilings, the Genelec AIW26 can be installed to either existing or new construction. In addition, a separate grill and mounting frame for the AIW26 can be painted to match the wall color. The new HTS3 subwoofer features a 10-inch long-stroke active driver combined with two 10-inch passive radiators, has a frequency response of 18Hz to 120Hz, and a maximum SPL of 114dB. The HTS3 is electronically bandpassed, has a signal sensing auto-on/off circuit, plus level and phase controls. In addition, the HTS3 includes XLR & RCA line level input connectors (with input sensitivity) for easy connection to all types of popular decoders, as well as a Link Out connector which allows coupling of two or more subwoofers together when even higher sound pressure levels are required. The HTS3 measures a compact 22 (L) x 12 10/16 (W) x 12 10/16 (D) inches. Genelecís HTS4 is designed for the larger home theatre/multi-media environment and features a specially designed 12-inch long-stroke active driver with two 12-inch passive radiators, has a frequency response of 18Hz to 120Hz, and a maximum SPL of 119dB. Like the HTS3, the HTS4 is electronically bandpassed, has a signal sensing auto-on/off circuit, plus level and phase controls, includes XLR & RCA line level input connectors, as well as a Link Out connector. The powerful HTS4 active subwoofer measures 28 1/4 (L) x 14 3/4 (W) x 14 3/4 (D) inches. The new HT210 was designed to provide an alternative two-way speaker solution for home theatre installations that would typically use a larger three-way system. The HT210 provides clean, accurate sound, with extremely high SPLís and a wide dynamic range. The HT210 is a two-way active loudspeaker, magnetically shielded, that employs a 10-inch woofer and 1-inch metal dome tweeter loaded with Genelecís DCWô. The HT210 features a compact design and includes an integrated electronic crossover, a 180-watt amplifier for bass, a 120-watt amplifier for treble, room response equalizers and RCA, as well as balanced XLR inputs. The Genelec HT210 has a frequency response of 42Hz-21kHz (+/-2dB) and can achieve extremely high SPLs - 124dB SPL at 1 meter. In addition, the HT210 features a signal sensing auto-on/off circuit and is available in a durable black finish. The HT205 compact active two-way, magnetically shielded speaker is designed to be used where space is at a premium. It is a completely self-powered speaker with an internal electronic crossover, room response equalizers and two 40 watt amplifiers. The HT205 also features a 5-inch woofer and a 3/4-inch metal dome tweeter loaded with Genelecís DCWô. In addition, the HT205 includes RCA and balanced XLR inputs plus integrated Omnimount Series 50 mounting threads, 3/8-inch mic stand threads and wall mount fixtures. The HT205 is available in an innovative aluminum cabinet with matte black finish. The HT206 is a compact magnetically shielded, two-way active loudspeaker with a 6 1/2-inch woofer and 3/4-inch metal dome tweeter loaded with Genelecís DCWô. It features an integrated electronic crossover and amps (80 watts and 50 watts), room response equalizers and RCA as well as balanced XLR inputs. The HT206 is available in black ""Producer"" finish. The HT208 is a two-way active loudspeaker, magnetically shielded, that employs an 8-inch woofer and 1-inch metal dome tweeter, loaded with Genelecís Directivity Control Waveguide Technology. The HT208 includes an integrated electronic crossover, two 120-watt amplifiers, room response equalizers and RCA as well as balanced XLR inputs. In addition, the Genelec HT208 features a signal sensing auto-on/off circuit and is available in black ""Producer"" finish. The HTS2 active subwoofer rounds out the Genelec HT range of home theatre products. Featuring dual 8-inch woofers with a 180-watt amplifier, the HTS2 is electronically bandpassed, and has a signal sensing auto-on/off circuit plus level and phase controls. The HTS2 is available in black ""Producer"" finish. For more information on Genelec Active Monitoring Systems, visit www.genelec.com.
