TechTV And CEA Launch ""TechTV's Best Of CES"" Awards

Applications Now Being Accepted For New 2001 Awards Program, Highlighting The Hottest New Tech Gadgets, Gizmos And Innovations At The CES Show

TechTV, the on-air and online network dedicated to the digital lifestyle, and the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) unveiled the first-ever ""TechTV's Best Of CES"", an awards program to recognize and honor the most outstanding new consumer technology products on show at the 2001International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). ""TechTV's Best Of CES"" is the newest feature of the 2001 International CES, the world's largest annual tradeshow for consumer technology, to be held January 6-9, 2001, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nominations are encouraged from CES exhibitors, and will be accepted through December 7, 2000 (entry details below).Winners representing the hottest products and services will be chosen by a cast of professional product evaluators, including TechTV's on-air host and Editorial Director, Jim Louderback, who will review and compare new products appearing for the first time at CES, judging them according to the ""wow"" factor, usability, usefulness and affordability.""Consumer electronics options are expanding tremendously. Many great products are released every year, but only a few rise above the crowd and become 'must have' devices,"" said Louderback. ""Each year at CES the gold products are introduced, and through our awards program, we'll help guide consumers to what is truly the best of the new.""Thirty products will be selected as finalists in ten categories, which include Mobile Devices, Digital Imaging, Home Automation and Smart Appliances. Judges will select a winner in each category and from the ten winners will choose two winners for additional Best of Show honors - Best Lifestyle product and Best Workstyle product. Winners will be announced at a gala ceremony on Sunday, January 7, and will be aired exclusively on TechTV, one of the fastest growing cable networks in the U.S.Unlike other CES awards, judging for ""TechTV's Best Of CES"" happens right on the show floor. This makes it ideal for new products making their first public appearance at the show.
