SurgeGate Plus circuitry is an enhanced ""power monitoring"" system that protects AC equipment against prolonged over-voltages, as well as surges. In the event of a prolonged over-voltage, SurgeGateô circuitry will disconnect power to equipment, then automatically reconnect it once power has returned to a safe level. The ""Plus"" refers to its ability to also protect against prolonged under-voltages (brownouts). This circuitry automatically disconnects power when either event is detected, then reconnects power once it has returned to a safe level.For telephone line protection, the MAX 8 DBS+5 features Signal Perfectô circuitry with solid-state SIDACtorsÆ and auto-resetting PTCRs. For coaxial line connections, the unitís shielded Signal Perfect circuitry with solid-state components provides maximum safeguarding and the lowest interference levels possible. The MAX 8 DBS+5 also comes with four sets of gold plated coaxial connectors - two sets are engineered specifically for direct broadcast satellite systems, and the other two sets for cable TV (and HDTV) and cable modems.The MAX 8 DBS+5ís innovative design includes eight protected AC outlets, all spaced to accommodate transformers for maximum flexibility.
